50 is still active but he is obviously not as big as he was before. Recently Rick Ross just said that he was the biggest L that 50 took in his career.

Was it Rick Ross, Was it The Game, Kanye West releasing Graduation, his battle with Interscope or was it something else that ruined his career?

gangsta rap just isn't as popular, it's as simple as that. he faded out of the spotlight when the genre did imo

    Not the game lol.

Gangsta rap died and he failed to adjust. Plus he took a break from music to focus on other ventures.

Kanye became more popular when Graduation and Curtis released, that could fall into the category of Gangsta rap getting old.

In all seriousness, he created a bubble of music that was poppin, gangster rap with great hooks, but the people shifted focus from that bubble to other s---. The Game really tried his best to k--- his career and did some damage, and his inability to take down a guy the public don't even like, Rick Ross, has made his L status stagnate.

OP asked if it was Kanye releasing Graduation that ended his career and I reckon Kanye's popularity and his genre is what killed Gangsta rap.

The Game. The Game did exactly to 50 Cent what 50 did to Ja Rule. Three entire mixtapes and a documentary worth of disses (and they were all dope as f--- by the way) and 50 did not have ONE legitimate response. Even Ja put up a better fight than that. Game exposed 50 and made the whole G-Unit movement corny and irrelevant.

The game really didnt hurt G-Unit at all. All his diss tracks were basically the same. G-Unit died because if over saturation.

The Ja comparison is way off.

50 had no initial responses because he was still eating off Game at the time.

Honestly I think the entire hip-hop industry kinda turned on 50 when he went at Jadakiss, Nas, and Fat Joe for no reason whatsoever other than for publicity for The Massacre. Game got kicked out of G-Unit for not being cool with it and that's how the beef, and his downfall, started.

none of this 'killed' 50s career

the genre simply wasn't popular anymore, it's as simple as that. only way he could've stayed in the limelight was either changing by trendsetting with a new style, or hopping on whatever trend knocked his off its pedestal in the first place. he chose neither option

50 and Ja aren't comparable, 50 Cent's career fell slowly, Ja's was basically this

Curtis came years after that and sold 690k first week. His beefs in a sense actually helped his career.

I think 50 fell pretty quickly too. He went from the biggest rapper on the planet in 2005 to irrelevant by 2007.
