Dec 1, 2014 What direction do you guys think Kendrick will go in? I thought "i" was a pretty mediocre song, except for the last minute and a half, but once I saw the music video and the SNL performance, I was a much bigger fan. Kendrick Lamar - i (Official Video) I thought this s--- was great. A little corny with the way he literally saves people from committing suicide, but it really drives the message home, and his voice and everything else about the production/atmosphere fits the video perfectly. I love all the funny a--- dancing he tries to do, and that it's pretty much about not giving a single f--- about anyone else. Explains his wild hair too lmao…and this crazy, black eyed performance simultaneously biting tyler's and kanye's swag: ^ I really enjoyed the different arrangement he went for/the bonus verse at the end. So even though I was kind of unsure about his future direction after "i" first came out, it's pretty safe to say that my confidence has been restored once again. I'm pretty excited to see what else he has up his sleeve/overall agenda
Dec 1, 2014 At first I was wtf but then I thought the song was AMAZING. It's a piece of electronically sequenced neo-funk & soul elements with rapping on top of it. And we already know the direction hes going in.. he said this album will be for him a return to the roots of black music. It will be Soul, Jazz & funk influenced. Confirmed features: George Clinton, Pete Rock, Ron Isley possible features: Prince & Slick Rick
Dec 1, 2014 "i" has been a slow burner for me. I've enjoyed it the more I've heard it. But despite how you feel about the song, let's wait until we hear the album in its entirety. Backseat Freestyle got a lukewarm reaction when it first came out too.
Dec 1, 2014 I'm not sure about that. Art Of The Peer Pressure was very well received when it leaked, at least from what I saw.
Dec 1, 2014 I'm not sure if you had the early version though, it was different than the album version. I was working with Luke on www.kdotnation.com at the time, so I specifically remember the very first version of Art of Peer Pressure was met with a luke warm reaction amongst those who had it.
Dec 1, 2014 d--- thats weird because art of the peer pressure is usually considered as one of the best songs on the album
Dec 1, 2014 is confirmed to be on his next project? i thought i read that it wasn't edit: I loved backseat freestyle and AOPP when the snippets and then the tracks leaked. I'm usually pretty on point with my kendrick opinions lol I'm kind of upset that my top 10 kendrick verses thread/write ups are gone forever now =(
Dec 1, 2014 'i' will defo be on the album. No way that will be left off from the success and reviews it's had.
Dec 1, 2014 or it could be more just for the message, and he'll throw a curveball and not have it on the album. I don't think Kendrick's one to keep a song if it doesn't fit the album's overall narrative. for all we know "i" might fit, or it might not. I do think we'll know more about the album soon though. or at least get more new music (i hope)
Dec 1, 2014 My guess is that it could possibly end up as a bonus track on the album. It will defo make the cut somehow in my opinion. When 'Crack a Bottle' leaked many expected it to be left off Relapse and it made the cut and that doesn't fit the album at all. I see an announcement towards the end of the year, start of the new year at most.
Dec 1, 2014 Its impossible to judge what kendrick will do next. One thing is certain though, he will go down as one of the best to ever do it.
