ATL blew the f--- up in the early 00's. After OutKast's legendary run, the title for King of the ATL has been claimed a few times, to say the least. The early 00's saw the rise of Ludacris and Lil Jon and a wave of imitators; a little while later, the emergence of the TI, Jeezy and Gucci. All three them have built storied careers, record labels, millions sold etc, etc, but who do you think truly deserves the ATL throne?

Gucci is the only relevant one out of the three, so I'm tempted to vote that way. It's difficult because although I loved TI growing up, his recent music has been excruciatingly unappealing. Jeezy has always been a strong, respected artist in his own right also, but I can't in place him above the others if we're talking about influence.

Jeezy had his moment--and made some very good music after that moment had passed--but he's very clearly third. I love T.I., and I think he's underrated by a press world (and fan community) that's still very NY/LA-centric and album-centric. But Gucci is the best artist of the three: the best writer, the most creative, and ultimately the most influential.

    *hand-on-chin emoji*

T.I.'s last album opened at #2 on Billboard. He went Gold in 2012 and in 2010--for an album of scraps and leftovers as he went to jail. I'd say he's still "relevant."

And Da Nic was phenomenal. I dunno, it's just dumb to say T.I. isn't "relevant," he's a superstar who gets sent scripts by Hollywood studios every week. Lots of rappers from various cities are still using his style.

Side note: Atlanta has been the best city for hip-hop this century and it's not even close.
