Whether it was a song you heard, someone talking about him or even a picture you saw, what did you first think?

For me the first I heard of him was on here and my first impression was his rap name is about as basic and boring as it gets.

Figured this could be an interesting thread since Thugger seems to bring out a lot of different opinions.

Nowadays i see him as a rapper and an artist

I saw the video of "loaded" with Peewee Longway a year or two ago. I LMFAO, between Thugger's annoying voice Peewee' (un?)Intentional funny adlibs and Young Thug's basic rap name... I thought it was a parody of trap music... Still don't know if his fans are genuine or of the Lil B, thank you Based God trolls school. It all might just be performance art masterminded and orchestrated by Narsh for all I know.

I really thought he was an experiment in the music industry so I ain't f--- him cuz he was mainstream but now i don't care about all that, as long as he's making hits he's nice to me.

thought he was a gimmick/joke that had one catchy song i didnt care for (danny glover)

then thought he was a generic rapper that had another catchy song i tried not to care for (stoner)

then realized he was awesome (2 cups stuffed)

Secondly, I thought his name was super generic

dont judge a book by its cover. thug was a clever 16 year old when he named himself lol. you could argue uncreative etc, but only if you disregard all the music he's made since then.

but thats all besides the point, i was just saying judging him off his name is the dont judge a book its cover adage.

i had the same reaction when i first saw danny brown lmao

I don't think I was wrong, and still don't think I am, by thinking "Young Thug" is a pretty bad rap name..

His charisma and music will allow that name to not be corny tho

Heard him for years via Gucci, thought he s----d. Wrote him off on most Gucci collabs, got mad when he'd appear on songs. He was pretty bad honestly.

Then he found his sound and I still wrote him off because i was like there's no way this guy with the f---ing name "Young Thug" who has pissed me off on random brick squad collabs the last couple years is all of a sudden blowing up. I heard Danny Glover and Stoner and still resisted, like Narsh. Then checked 1017 Thug and the rest is history, his mixtapes prior to that are sketchy though but he indeed found his sound in 2013.

Thought he looked weird as. Didn't like him at first, but I don't mind some of his tracks now. Wouldn't call myself a fan tho as the trap genre isn't the type of music I seek out willfully.

I gotta say tho Old English with Freddie and Ferg is a beastly song.

Thought he had a very generic uninteresting name. Hated his voice and his hated his look more. Heard one song that was kinda cool and slowly started paying a bit more attention to him as time went one. Definitely one of my favorite artists right now. It's nice To have someone that you have to study a little to get the whole picture

Sometimes I think ppl (including myself) don't necessarily have the time or the desire to want to do that though. I mean yeah, sometimes it pays off but it's kinda bothersome especially if the artist is so out of the norm (for said person)
