Dec 26, 2017 is that we will no longer hear lyrics like: "white on the block is selling like eminem" - common "imma do shady numbers" - the game "what if i was as famous as marshall" , "trynna be big as em" - kendrick etc : (
Dec 26, 2017 Commercially it isn't a flop , considering 200k is still huge As a album to experience its definitely a flop, album sounded like a snoozefest tbh
Dec 26, 2017 But he is still selling more than 90% of rappers out today. Just because his first week numbers didn't outsell the giants this year doesn't mean anything. This will go platinum in a few months. Probably around February-March.
Dec 26, 2017 Because he's one of the biggest musicians of our time, he could release anything and it would get decent streams. Compared to what he is capable of tho this is a flop.
Dec 26, 2017 Haters are still so happy about Em doing a lot worse than he used to do in US. I really wonder the numbers in US if Trump was long gone before his next album...
Dec 26, 2017 i have no problem with this flopping, mediocre music shouldn't be selling. this just makes me appreciate his classics more.
Dec 26, 2017 Not sure what to say here - when you have a lead single like WoW and zero album promotion whatsoever, you simply aren't going to sell that many records.
Dec 26, 2017 More than 90%, only Drake and Kendrick outsold him this year and tbh, they are the biggest hip hop artists currently.
Dec 26, 2017 Album is clearly a flop by Em's standard. But yes, it is sad that em flopped and still outselling 99% of the game.
Dec 26, 2017 It's still a flop compared to his normal numbers. Even his mainstream debut did better, and a lot of people hadn't heard much of him yet in early 1999.
Dec 26, 2017 I'm still confident this was the intention.. The fame holds him and his family back, he wants to browse at target one day etc.. Its like this album is the revival of Eminem "just another rapper" instead of the Michael Jackson super stardom he had. Nobody with a brain would conciously market the album this way expecting it to sell big numbers. Like Home/River would've been the obvious choices.
Dec 26, 2017 Not saying you are wrong cause i agree the promotion/singles erc was stupied, but would the label really allow a flop?
Dec 26, 2017 I wouldnt call it a flop, so much as a 'silent' release. Interscope might have allowed it because of the expected critical reception.
Dec 26, 2017 I'm pissed because no one has answered me if that's a lot or not in the streaming era. If it is then he didn't flop this album. The way people consume music just changed.
