Dec 26, 2017 Well......f--- me. Em flopped. I am still trying to gather all my thoughts on why it flopped and will make a thread. There are many reasons as to why.
Dec 26, 2017 Taylor Swift was able to do 1.2M in the US during the first week of her album release recently - nowadays she is the benchmark for what a popstar is capable of selling. So the answer is, yes, early-2000s style numbers are still doable. Of course, Taylor Swift is far more engaged with her fans on social media, did a major stadium tour last year, released 2 very successful pop-singles from the album 6 weeks in advance, plays the TMZ-"drama" angle well (Kardashian/West, her relationships) to stir up some buzz and keep her name in the news, etc etc. Eminem did none of the above things, so it is no wonder the album flopped. I'm a big Eminem stan, yet would have had NO idea he had an album coming out if I didn't check section 80 once in a while - yet, I could care less about Taylor Swift's music, but knew she had an album coming out due to numerous media outlets reporting it. Tells you all you need to know.
Dec 26, 2017 I'll make it worse, the streaming era supposedly helps increase sales so last year ppl were actually projecting Em to smash Drake's first week sales (1milli)
Dec 26, 2017 He luckied out with that rihanna ft Both had an abusive relationship, so the song worked. He had a second prime on recovery because it dropped at good time with rihanna, than came the monster which it was big again because of how big ltwyl was, but it wasnt nearly as good.
Dec 26, 2017 you said it wasn't nearly as good.. If you're talking about receiving yes, love is his biggest with Not Afraid
Dec 26, 2017 We can probably look at this as a positive way, rappers might say something like. “This albums already a classic 2nd song in like Eminem’s believe But this album won’t flop though Like Revival did you feel me ho?”
