Jul 12, 2016 So Em section I am wondering, based on the past say 3 years, do you still consider Eminem the #1 rapper in the world? If so, how so? Try to reasonably convince the average person why you believe so atm. Main purpose of this thread is to see what the stans who think otherwise and actually put other people above Em think on the matter. Ya'll fans of Kendrick cause of his superior rapping ability (much in the same vein of Eminem) compared to his peers? or is there another person that is thriving as an artist who you place above him, maybe not based on ability but someone you think is more bumpable that Eminem right now? i.e. a Drake, a Future or some such. I personally stopped putting Eminem near my top around post- MMLP2. Enjoyed that album, but around that time is when I sort of pulled him off my fav current rapper list and stuck him on the most skilled rapper list only instead. Some people I know may put in discussion (even tho I'm familiar with their opinion) @Genghis Stan @Boyz N The Suburbs @Chazi
Jul 12, 2016 About a year or so marked the first time in a long time that I considered myself completely not a stan. Stopped fiening for new Em and listening to him regularly and such. For the people who still stan Em hard, did you enjoy Southpaw and ShadyXV enough to continue your full support? Maybe you didn't like those albums but are constantly hype for new Em solo anyway? EDIT: any way I can edit a poll into this thread? we could poll the stan communities favorite non-Eminem rapper
Jul 12, 2016 Kendrick currently is a better lyricist and is making better music. Nobody else on a rapping level can compete, especially current favourites Drake, Future and Young Thug. Drake raps at times, I don't think the other two can count themselves as rappers. They're sort of electronic computer enhanced opera singers. Kanye is Kanye but hasn't given me any reason to move him to Em's level.
Jul 12, 2016 His music just isn't enjoyable anymore. His "jokes" or clever lines are so bad, that he needs to point them out like "Get it? XD Hehe that was a good one. I'm proud of myself" On the SSLP, his jokes sounded natural and were more often than not humorous. His flow is unbelievably bad at times. His music lacks genuine emotion. I'm not WPG (f---ing a------) though so I'm not great at formulating my thoughts. He has skill and can occasionally make a good verse, but nothing he's made lately has any lasting power with people outside of the people whom only listen to him and affiliated artists
Jul 12, 2016 Drake is obviously bumpable but I don't listen to him that often I listen to Kendrick frequently and believe he is my favourite rapper at the moment not too sure if I would say he was the best at the moment but believe he will be one day I have a lot of time for Kanye lately no specific project pretty much abit of everything I wouldn't class myself as a Stan but I am still a huge fan of Eminem and am desperate for a new album after I was really disappointed with the MMLP2 Eminem certainly isn't the best rapper around no more and has fell off but I can still appreciate modern Em and accept the fact we aren't going to get classic albums just the odd special song every now and then
Jul 12, 2016 I so feel all of the stuff you listed man. The comparison to SSLP, where some of his lines were unbeleivably subtle and every now and then when I bump I catch something else about his lyrics that I never even noticed before. That's gone with modern Em...when you do finally hear a dope line or so he has to point it out or the beat stops or something. So dumb. This aspect of Em was one of the initial reasons I started listening to him. Lacks emotion...two dimensional.. He never layers vocals or puts some spin on the art. It's like he's reading off a script more than anything else. Flow speaks its own...like he takes the flow after recording and chops it up with some scissors. Just awful sometimes.
Jul 12, 2016 Em still has this natural ability to rap and rhyme and come up with stuff that only a rare few percentage of people ever have It's just he lost the ability to hold my interest from a music aspect anymore
Jul 12, 2016 he is my favorite for a lot of reasons , dont feel like dropping all of them now just saying the rappers i consider on par with em are lupe doom nas jay 3k gfk common bt monch redman and i can name some more
Jul 12, 2016 but you are saying he is your current favorite still? you compare him to gfk, redman. these guys aren't your modern favs right??
Jul 12, 2016 some reasons his flow on his prime is imo the best flow i've ever heard , his delivery was amazing too rn his flow is a little to complicated technically and he kinda ignore the musicality aspect but its more cuz of his voice tbh
Jul 12, 2016 Kendrick is the only only one. Lmfao at people saying Drake and Kanye, smh listen to forever
Jul 12, 2016 he is one if not the most versatile rapper , he did all types of songs he was really original for mainstream one of the best oat on features , top5 imo
Jul 12, 2016 Kendrick is the only only one. Lmfao at people saying Drake and Kanye, smh listen to forever
Jul 12, 2016 That's one song though...just cause Em beat other rappers on one track doesn't really mean anything. And that was in what, 09? They're all four completely different artists now. That's my point.
Jul 12, 2016 he is one of the few that can keep me interested for a new album , even now i am curious what em gonna say even tho most of it gonna probably be some gimmick that probably the label asks him for since relapse flopped , ie rihanna feature, cod song and idk what
Jul 12, 2016 he only got a lot better with wordplay compared to sslp even tho on infinite his wordplay is nuts
