obviously Nas has one of the strongest discographies in the genre, but aside from Illmatic being the unanimous #1 I feel like his fans are pretty divided on ranking the rest of his work...how would you guys order it?

Mine isn't too different from yours now that I look at it. The proposed 2-disc that was originally intended for I Am would have made things interesting. I put Stillmatic over Lost Tapes mostly because of it's significance in reviving his career.

Haven't listened to half of his albums for years... but HHID is very high up the list for me, same as IWW, Stillmatic and of course, Illmatic

kind of feel like hip hop is dead is the one that really got away. that had the potential to be one of his best albums with some real commercial success

I re-listened to LiG recently and I think that the 2nd half is much weaker than the 1st despite having the Amy feature. It's a good album but imbalanced for me to enjoy it as a whole (maybe you could say it hasn't clicked, idk), some of the songs are great though (Locomotive is my favourite.) I prefer Distant Relatives with Damian which came a couple of years before this one, I really like the vibes and they have great synergy.

I think that HHID is an important album for Nas at this point in his career, a strong statement and a very good album in its own right, despite its inconsistencies. It's pretty close with God's Son, but I prioritise HHID because God's Son is the weakest out of the 3 projects of 2001-2002 and mainly because I don't think that people should skip this more "modern" nas.

Obviously all of these are worth listening to, and I guess I should revisit them soon, I've only listened to Illmatic and DR these past few months (except from lig I mean.)

Surprised how middle ground Hip Hop is Dead is. This is the album that made me a fan (I was always a Jay Z fan more).

Guess I better give his full discography a spin!

That top 4 is so solidified i like how everyone is finally giving TLT the credit it deserved. Those 4 are all classic material.

I'd switch Life is Good with Stillmatic and our list is the same. LIG was fantastic to me.

So many of these are interchangable though. Illmatic on top of course. I Am and Nastradamus on the bottom, though that is only because of the leak. The OG I Am would have likely been incredible.
