Dec 3, 2014 This. David Simon said he would never ok them remastering the show in HD because it would contradict he "gritty"/"real" look of it. As much as I always wanted Sopranos on bluray I always hoped the Wire wouldnt sell out.

Dec 3, 2014 I stopped at the second season a year or two ago when I started this show. Really need to finish it before I'm tempted with this. Homicide on the Street is a dope 4:3 crime procedural with the gritty vibe if anybody is interested. The cast was insane.

Dec 3, 2014 I'll reserve judgement until after I see the finished product. I know there were concerns regarding the aspect ratio. Although, my main concern has been how s-----y the DVDs look on my TV.

Dec 27, 2014 Watching the first episode of S2 right now and it definitely looks kinda weird...at this point I agree with David Simon that it strips the gritty look, but I think I'm gonna go ahead and DVR the rest of the marathon and see how I feel after a few more episodes (I've seen S1 three times and the rest two times, so I don't mind skipping S1 this time). Mar 5, 2015 Just watched the first episode in HD. Looks much nicer, enjoyed watching it more and want to watch the entire series in HD now. Can understand what people mean though, when they say it changes the feel of it. It's hard to explain, but, In a weird way the original 4:3 just seems "real" as if someone actually stood there and filmed real life scenes. Where as the 16:9 HD looks incredible, it doesn't have that feel. That being said, If you've seen the 4:3 original (GOAT) series, then the HD version wont really detract anything. To me it's just another reason to re-watch this f---ing masterpiece of a show.
