Most Anticipated Movies/TV?

    I noticed we had threads about things we're watching but not things we're excited about so I thought I'd get the ball rolling!


    Speaking a bit on my horror love, easily one of the movies I'm most excited about us coming later this month and that's Evil Dead Rise (April 21st), I have a connection to this franchise coupled with my love of Sam Raimi and I think this series has had no bad movies, this is shaping up to be another great entry to carry out the Evil Dead name


    Another film I'm quite interested in also dropping the same day as Evil Dead is Beau Is Afraid (April 21st), coming from the director of well regarded Horror films Hereditary and Midsommar, Ari Aster's next film seems to be taking an approach of a more surrealist, Charlie Kaufman esque dark comedy which is incredibly interesting, and the fact that Joaquin Phoenix is attached makes me believe that this movie is either really has the potential to be special


    Next up is Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 (May 5th) I've been feeling intense Marvel fatigue lately and this is basically my last hope, James Gunn is one of my favorite writers/directors of superhero s--- in recent years and I hope he can close out the Trilogy well!


    Spiderman: Across The Spiderverse (June 2nd), easily top 3 most anticipated movies this year because the last one wasn't only one of the best Spiderman/Superhero movies but also one of the best animated films ever imo


    To cap off the big blockbuster portion I'm also going to say I'm cautiously excited for Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny (June 30th), I really like the Indy movies and James Mangold is a fantastic director and I really trust him in spite of Disney, top that off with the fact this is probably one of the last action heavy roles Harrison Ford will ever do and you get something made to either be great or terrible lol


    Moving onto TV I'm currently watching Ted Lasso season 3 as it's airing, it's still very early in the season and I'm excited to see where it goes and if it's actually the last season as was rumored!


    One of my favorite shows ever made is getting it's last season on April 16th and that's Barry, it's incredibly hard to pitch this show but Bill Hader has really come into himself post SNL and made something that I think is a really special blend of comedy and genuinely great dark moments, I'm very excited to see how it concludes and quite interested to see where Bill Hader goes next in his career. (Only posting the season 1 trailer cause the season 4 trailer has an intense amount of spoilers)


    Honorable Mention: Ezra Miller terrorizes Hawaii AKA The Flash (hope this one is good but will save judgment until closer to release)

    I didn't add any kind of videogames cause this list and topic is too d--- long winded but I'll just say my most anticipated games are Street Fighter 6 and Final Fantasy XVI, especially Final Fantasy.

    This is all I'm remembering but I'm surely going to update it because this year seems to be good for every kind of media!

    Most of the stuff I can think of isn’t coming out this year or don’t have a release date yet. The only shows I’m anticipating this year are Barry season 4 and iCarly revival season 3. There aren’t any movies I’m that excited for, but Beau Is Afraid and Spider-Man Across the Spiderverse look interesting.

    Due to this lack of anticipation, I’m in a phase right now of watching shows and movies from the past that I never bothered watching when they came out. I need to watch Game of Thrones, Ted Lasso, Succession, etc.

    Some of the things I’m looking forward to that are coming out outside of 2023 or with unannounced release dates are The Last of Us season 2, The Batman 2, Spider-Man 4, next season of Abbott Elementary, next season of Only Murders in the Building, next season of Harley Quinn, Joker 2

    Definitely, they’re both top tier. Succession is a dark comedy & Severance is more dystopian social commentary so both for different vibes lol

    I'm down for both, love Ben Stiller and Adam Scoot not to mention dread so I'm sure I'd like it Severance!

    Think I'm gonna get started on Succession soon, I didn't know the tone of it just that people love it so hearing it's a dark comedy makes me a lot more interested, I love that s---.

    Succession is so funny because you end up despising the family but the way they interact with each other like they’re competing creates so many possible scenarios in which you don’t want to support any of the characters but ones downfall is another ones salvation. Really interesting dynamic & a deeper level of writing than you usually get from a comedy.

    With Final Fantasy XVI dropped soon I wouldn't be surprised if they push VII part 2 into early 2024 tbh, either way FF fans are eating.

    I don't like FFXVI, that s--- looks like FFXIV. Give me more parts of VII or a remake of VIII that they will most likley never do

    Indy 5 until I saw the reviews from the Cannes premiere.

    Looks like a below average movie at best.

    Eh imma watch anyways, as long as its a decent adventure movie with a send off that has finality i'm sure i'll have some fun.

    The reviews actually dont give a f about spoilers for some reason so I know already know what happens, that ending will piss a lot of people off.

    52% on rt
    and 53/100 on MTC is just horrible for a movie like that.
