May 25, 2015 i've seen in the other thread ppl rating it 8-9/10, putting it higher than relapse and recovery (even if relapse isn't necessarily good, it has something that makes me relisten to it sometimes, that doesn't apply for mmlp2). i don't understand this, except if having mmlp in your album name is worth 8 points. why do you rate it so high? what's so amazing about it? is it the nostalgia of the first mmlp that kinda forces you to believe this is good? discuss
May 25, 2015 It's easily better than Relapse and Recovery, but most people here hate it. It's not overrated on here at all.
May 25, 2015 i prefer Recovery over MMLP2, he shoulda never named it that. it was all a marketing ploy on Interscope's part.
May 25, 2015 MMLP2 gets so many good ratings because of the classics that are on it, Bad Guy is the sequel to Stan. Imagine if James Cameron made a sequel to Titanic, yeah that's how Bad Guy is. Stronger Than I Was is the most uplifting song I've heard in a while, Em's beautiful crooning reminds all that even though we may have just broken up with someone, we are still here. Are you familiar with Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive? STIW is like a modern version of that.
May 25, 2015 s--- you're right, listening to stronger than i was now and i'm like all these emotions this song alone makes this album an easy 8 sorry, i was wrong thanks for showing me the right path @Nori
May 25, 2015 But as far as it being overrated, not so much. Some call it a bad album (it isn't) and some call it a classic (also wrong). It's average, so I think overal it's fair.
May 25, 2015 I don't think it's overrated. I listen to MMLP2 way more than Recovery, at least at the moment. MMLP2 displays Marshall at 40, trying to cope with what he is now, and coping with the process of moving on from all of his great achievements (most of all MMLP). The album is not meant as a sequel, at least not to Marshall - and he's said so many times. The title might be misleading, as one can't look at MMLP2 with the same glasses as the first one, but in a way it's fitting as well.
May 25, 2015 If MMLP2 was supposed to be a revisit to the MMLP in terms of tone and vibe (as eminem stated), then Eminem succeeded. Plain and simple.
