Yeah it's beautiful. I'd recommend you to visit Spain too! Those two countries have some rich history together, despite being on different continents. You can combine it too if you have enough time. There are ferries across the strait of gibraltar everyday you can take to get from Spain to Morocco.

Yup a Portugal-->Spain-->Morocco adventure is what I was envisioning...how expensive are this countries compared to other western european countries (UK/France/MichaelMeyersville/etc)? I know USD goes a long way in a lot of eastern european countries but not sure about SW europe.

Madrid and Barcelona haven't really been that different to Vienna cost-wise (which is the only city I can really compare it too), maybe a little less. South of Spain is pretty cheap tho. I guess France and UK are way more expensive than Spain (never been to France and can't remember much of the UK, since I was a lil fella back then). Only been to Marrakesh in Morocco, which isn't the capital but one of the most popular places. North Africa can be very cheap but you have to be able to bargain. As a tourist you are an easy victim for overpriced goods lmao

100% this is what i did for my honeymoon. flew to portugal (cheap from boston), then a jumper to spain (madrid, barcelona). the highlight was absolutely our day trip to morocco. we rented a car and drove past gilbrator to tarifa, and took a ferry into north africa. did a tour of the city, walked the casbah etc. it was v v cool, and affordable.

Sadly I haven't been to much places outside of Europe. My spain trip was beautiful but back then I didn't know the language (which I'm currently changing). Probably gonna go there again next summer, or even say f--- it and visit it this summer. Flights are cheap and Airbnb exists. Marrakesh was extremely nice, that city has so much culture but I went there with my ex gf and there have been a lot of uncomfortable situations. Might be better to go solo or do a mens only trip (being completely honest). Obviously been to Egypt many times, since I'm half egyptian but I still need to do a proper culture trip. Ancient egyptian history is just way too interesting. Other than that I've been to some neighbouring countries like Italy, Hungary, Slovakia and Germany but those trips weren't that special (mostly with friends as an easy escape from Austria). Netherland is probably going to be this years chill destination.

Never been to Greece which sucks and never visited the very popular european holiday destination Croatia as well. I was in Turkey once, but that was our 'Post school graduation' trip and we mainly stayed in the hotel and got shitfaced. So not very enriching, but what can you expect from an 18 year old. I definitely want to visit Portugal and of course do a big a--- trip to the States. Japan is also very fascinating to me, due to the completetely different flora and fauna and of course funky Tokyo. Guess that's just a must for anime watchers.

Yeah, this got me thinking. I have done Portugal, Spain, N Africa, England, France, then Canada and the US (like 35 states fwiw). But never Asia or even Mexico. Really need to rectify that, especially as the pandemic dissipates.

My dream trip rn is actually Sweden. Might have to prioritize that someday soon.

Facts all religions basically have their fair share of history there. Guess a little fear for your life spices things up.

I’ve been on many road trips and been to every US state except for Alaska. I haven’t ever spent significant time in the Carolinas, Kansas, or Delaware however and am looking to change that. The rest I’ve spent at least one day and/or night in.

Went to England and France when I was too young and too dumb to appreciate it. I’m not rly interested in those countries tho honestly.

Went to Costa Rica on a school trip in 9th grade for the most Seattle hippie s--- ever: to help construct some sort of generator/reactor so a free-trade coffee farm could run on biodiesel lol

Took my quarter life crisis Mexico trip a few years ago as some of you may remember lol. Spent most of my time in Mexico City and all over the Yucatán/Quintana Roo. Would love to go back again because there’s still so much to see! I never felt like Mexico was a big country simply because my brain always compared it to US and Canada on a map but it really is huge.

A guided North Korea tour would be interesting but probably just too depressing. Oddly the relations between Austria and NK are pretty good. We even have an embassy in Vienna that celebrates all those weird Kim Jong family holidays. Don't know if you can crash the party though
