Apr 28, 2015 I thought this would be an interesting thread to see if we can fill a map and put some people onto new music. Obviously there's going to be some tough competition in states like California, New York, Georgia, and Illinois, so I added the "right now" caveat to narrow the margin a bit. Who does sectioneighty think are the best rappers from each state? Can we find an even marginally-prolific rapper from Wyoming? I'm willing to allow rappers from any time period for states like South Dakota and Montana that generally don't produce very many rappers. Examples: Washington: Ishmael Butler aka Butterfly New York: Action Bronson Illinois: Lil Herb, Kanye West Michigan: Danny Brown Indiana: Freddie Gibbs Mississippi: Rae Sremmurd (either of them), Big K.R.I.T. Georgia: Young Thug California: Kendrick Lamar Alabama: Yelawolf (lol) Spoiler: To be filled in Alabama: Yelawolf Alaska Arizona Arkansas California: Kendrick Lamar Colorado Connecticut: Apathy D.C: Oddisee Delaware Florida Georgia: Young Thug, Future Hawaii Idaho Illinois: Kanye West, Lil Herb Indiana: Freddie Gibbs Iowa: Young Red Kansas Kentucky: Nappy Roots Louisiana: Boosie, Kevin Gates, Lil Wayne Maine Maryland Massachusetts: Reks Michigan: Danny Brown Minnesota Mississippi: Swae Lee, Slim Jimmy, Big K.R.I.T. Missouri: Montana Nebraska Nevada: Dizzy Wright New Hampshire New Jersey: Redman, Joe Budden New Mexico New York: Action Bronson North Carolina: J. Cole North Dakota Ohio: Kid Cudi, MGK Oklahoma Oregon Pennsylvania: Black Thought, Meek Mill, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa Rhode Island South Carolina South Dakota Tennessee Texas: Utah Vermont Virginia: Pusha T Washington: Ishmael Butler (Butterfly) West Virginia Wisconsin Wyoming
Apr 28, 2015 Ohio: Kid Cudi or MGK? West Virginia: Huey Mack or Scolo Dolo? Connecticut: Apathy North Carolina: J Cole Nevada: Dizzy Wright? Louisiana: Kevin Gates > Boosie/Wayne currently

Apr 28, 2015 You going to add suggestions to the OP? @BigCountry Had to check if it was ever or currently. Disagree regardless. Gates has 4 solid tapes in the past 2 years.
Apr 28, 2015 yeah, no, gates' 2013-14 run was/is incredible, i agree, but he's petering off a bit. luca brasi 2 was clearly the weakest of the four. boosie is a top-ten rapper of all time and is at the top of his game.
Apr 28, 2015 Ummm, Luca 2 was his second tape that year. I agree it's a little weaker, but he still put out tons of remixes and collabs as well. Agree that Boosie is a legend. Also can't argue that it's outrageous to chose him instead.
Apr 28, 2015 Iowa: We literally have like no one, but a kid I went to high school with has worked w/ Lil Herb and Chicago area rappers. He was born and raised in my hometown, but he associates himself with Chicago. His name is: Young Red And I'm in this music video briefly. It was shot at some random a--- party my senior year
Apr 28, 2015 All I can think of from my state, PA, are Meek Mill, Mac Miller, Wiz Khalifa, and Black Thought
Apr 28, 2015 I dont know any new rappers from MA so i would have to say our best is Reks. Grey Hairs is one of my favorite albums ever, i'll be honest though i havent heard any of his last 3 projects.
