One thing I liked about SL is that it had an alternative/rock section and I thought it was funny at the amount of hot topic/scene band fans there were, s80 needs to branch out...you know this thread will most definitely flop

I'm a tattoo artist so I heard the entire tool discography purely by going to work. I listen to anything just about. Unless it's transvestite or gay (Lil nas x)

Not sure anyone here cares but slipknot is working on a new album. it's pretty cool a band as far along as they are to put out an album so late in their career were most of their fan base agrees it's either their best or top 3 with their last one is cool so I'm looking forward to whatever they do next. Fun side fact Corey Taylor is a huge fan of the rapper who wears the kangol hat 24/7 and loved Kamikaze when it came out. Corey Taylor talked about how the album inspired them on their last album saying something like "no one in rock takes control like that and shuts everyone the f--- up anymore and we want to be that band"



The album is awesome and for sure either their second or third best album

I feel like they've never really released a bad album just the standards are very high for them. They're easily the biggest band in the world like who really gives a s--- about rock anymore you know? Yet they still go number 1 they still headline and sell out arenas so a lot of pressure on them. Don't wanna be that guy but Em inspiring a band or anyone in a completely different genre is badass too, Kamikaze legit made these guys wanna make music again after being in a dry spell. I really hope whatever they do next is good.

Tbh aside from a song or 2 from each album i've never really liked their music that much. They'll usually have some "accessible" songs or catchy singles that i'll like but for the most part I couldn't really get into their albums. Except for this last one. We Are Not Your Kind was excellent.

Yeah people either deeply love them and what they stand for, hate them, or just love the singles. Last album isn't their heaviest but some how they created something that everyone seems to enjoy even people who don't like them. Idk man I like a lot of deathcore like the music I posted earlier in the thread but even then that's not an every day listen due to the music at times all sounding the same and with traditional metal/rock I lean towards older stuff like Marilyn Manson RHCP and some older punk stuff like Offspring etc a lot of it just doesn't really have lasting power though. To me rock right now is a dying genre no real new band sounds like an actual rock or metal band anymore.

Nice, diversity is good!

I used to be a trash metal fan. Listened to Metallica, Megadeth, Iron Maiden along with other, mostly mainstream bands like Disturbed and System Of a Down.

This past year I have expanded a lot though.

I got into metalcore and found some really good stuff. Like Killswitch Engage, Trivium, As I Lay Dying.

And recently got into some power metal like Hammerfall.

And Mastodon. Got into some of their albums recently and there's a lot of great stuff.

It's mutual, man. There aren't many rock or metal fans here. Metal in general like you said is not what it used to be. I'm happy you bumped this thread.

I grew up on bands like Guns N' Roses Metallica and pantera etc I might not listen to them often anymore but I do respect trash bands As I lay dying is also a great band. I'm honestly surprised to see that there's barely interest in this thread, I believe I said it before but even SL had a rock section that was fairly active even if a lot of what was discussed was hot topic bands lol. As far as I know you jankland Australia and captain awesome are the only people who listen to anything rock here.

Lack of activity probably killed the section at some point. Wasn't there a club section too? For house, techno etc.. If i'm not mistaken.

Growing up in the 70s and 80s must've been a crazy time to be a rock/metal fan. We weren't born in the right era lol.
