Oct 29, 2015 http://shadyrecords.com/discography/ This is the discography of Shady Records. After Eminem's MMLP which made him the biggest artist in the World, Shady Records actually became a really good and profitable company. Sure, Eminem was doing the half of the s--- but still it was kind of intellegent to have it. If you check the link I gave, You'll see they used to release 2 albums per year back in the day when they were at their prime. 2001 - D12 debuted and they went 2x platinum 2002 - The Eminem Show sold millions and after few months 8 Mile Soundtrack sold millions 2003 - Get Rich or Die Tryin' sold millons and even Obie went platinum 2004 - Encore again sold millions of copies and D12 World went 2x platinum And in 2005 they started to go down which is caused by Eminem's lack of involvement. Eminem was on more than the half of the s--- releasing by Shady and he started slow down so is Shady. Eminem kept on selling his own s--- and since he made 50 a star, he was selling to but he couldn't involve in Oie's second albüm as much as he did on Obie's first album so it failed. Fast forward, 2009-2015 they hardly release an album per year. Em is still selling but his artists simply can't. Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf hardly even fullfill the outcome made by company to release their albums. Eminem still tryin' to help but obvious that it doesn't work. Why put all the pressure on Eminem ? I mean they probably did the Bad Meets Evil thing to give Royce a publicity to help Slaughterhouse but nobody even gave a s--- about Royce, he was just the guy next to Eminem. Yelawolf's Love Story is the dopest s--- ever happened in hip hop in 2015. they missed a big chance to make him bigger.. It's obvious that they cannot manage the business no more and they're in the red. How the h--- is Shady still existing ? Isn't it a loss of Money ? At least sign someone who can actually sell something ? Promoting Yelawolf properly would definitely make him more of a mainstream.
Oct 29, 2015 I lost interest when you said Love Story is the dopest s--- to happen to hip-hop in 2015.
Oct 29, 2015 Shady is mostly the label.. As long as their under that f---in interscope/iovine umbrella, only em will get enough promotion
Oct 29, 2015 the problem with Shady is that they sign middle aged (or mid 30's) rappers. They need some young blood in there who have new ideas/perspectives on things like Em did when he was in his twenties. instead they hire rappers who can rap well but really have no vision or marketability and are too old /stubborn to try something new.
Oct 29, 2015 major labels aren't in the business of splitting an artist deal with two different subsidiaries. why would they do that?
Oct 29, 2015 I really think Yelawolf had chance to at least do 100k in his first week with that Love Story but they released Till It's Gone as a single ? really ?! Oh and before that Box Chevy V. What the f--- ! I mean they just released two songs that shouldn't be single as first 2 singles. Imagine they released Best Friend with huge promo and then American You. They could've pushed the 100k in the first week as well as giving the man some radio play and fame.
Oct 29, 2015 they still do relatively well compared to other rap labels. they don't do 'horrible' numbers.
Oct 29, 2015 The type of music SR makes does not have any kind of relevancy in music today. 50, Obie, D12, G Unit... That was the mid 2000's popular sound. And obviously because of that, they went gold and platinum along with a co-sign by Em. Now, you won't hear causual listeners from the radio talk about "Yelawolf" or "Slaughterhouse" the way they did "In Da Club" or "My Band". It's just not the sound of today anymore. We evolved, Shady didn't. Eminem is moving into more of a modern sound on his next LP though, so baby step's I suppose.
Oct 29, 2015 But considering they were like one of the biggest rap labels between 2001-2006, they're wack now
Oct 29, 2015 how do u know that he is going a modern direction and I agree with everything else. thats why i think they need to hire someone younger
Oct 29, 2015 you wont see yela or slaughterhouse do 50 cent numbers but no one in the industry is either with the exception of eminem himself, kanye and drake.
