People in 2026 still can't get over dre singing a white boy. Even at the super bowl the announcer said "we all know the reason eminem is here and its because hes white"

50 getting shot and the bounce back was ... quit possibly the biggest come back in music history

Eminem made Dre comeback after the industry and streets were saying he was washed up and over. Aftermath instantly went Platinum because of Eminem. If Dre dropped another album after the firm flopped and never signed em then 2001 chronic wouldn’t have been as big. It was the right time. Being white helped for the mtv TRL crowd, but Em had to earn the respect of all of hip hop. Very well could have easily flopped and been a one hit wonder with my name is, which is why MMLP was so monumental.
50’s debut was the biggest to ever happen in Hip hop period, so yes it technically was more impressive.

50 cent obviously had the bigger debut. But he road in on a bigger wave. Not to say that 50 cent didnt add his own wave. Dude completely reinvented how people used mixtapes.

Eminem had next to no buzz when dre signed him. Sure a couple freestyles on the radio. But I mean 50 had the streets on f---ing fire. Eminem and 50 both getting signed had to be easily the two biggest signings in hip hop.
