Now if you asked if racism against blacks was worse than racism against whites. There'd be people who'd say "obviously yes", because black people have always been the primary victims of racism during the slavery era onward and also because in countries like america where black people are a minority, being the minority means it's easier to be targeted by society. But of course all this is based on the assumption that the person being racist is white and not say, Latino, Asian, brown or even Black!

What about black on black racism. And no I don't mean "Internalized racism" which is just a fancy way of saying raced based self esteem issues, putting emphasis on race and not low self esteem. I mean outright racism. In Jamaica for example it's common to see people (ironically) attribute the third world nature of the country (like s-----y public buses and poor roads) to the fact that the country is mostly black. According to my knowledge this also happens within the black community in america as well. Now some people might wonder why it's okay for a black person to make a racist joke but not for a white person. The answer is that a black person being racist to black people is Ironic and the actual content of the racist joke is less important, but it's not ironic. The joke can still be funny, but it's more much likely to be interpreted as racist and less likely to be funny.

Now what about White on White racism? It's common place to see white people from the political left stereotype white people. It's also common to see left leaning Americans use 'white' as a sort of insult. A common example is when i just joined this site and Koolo told people that i was a white kid from Ohio. Now people like @Soldier who put up multiple avy's of black people and was such an enlightened speaker of things like black music, black athletes and black culture (who you might have thought was black himself) was using 'white boy' as some insult (against a black kid mind you) when it turns out he's white himself. Now "White boy" as some type of derogatory term doesn't automatically come with the historical context of the word "n----". But the use of the word 'boy' serves to emasculate the "white" and creates the stereotype of a white person being less masculine than a white person, especially given the stereotype of black people being physically superior. I've also seen white being used to indirectly imply "privilege" though such things are usually more attributable to class than race. But the term "privileged" again implies a lack of struggle in life which again creates a connotation of weaknesses.

But i'm not sure if white on white racism is supposed to have the same ironic effect as black on black racism. It strikes me more as white people being the same sort of internal racists they think some black people are (and some black people probably are. I'm also wondering why more protection is given against racism against blacks whereas racism against whites is openly tolerated here by most mods. It just means black people on this site are given some sort of social power. Especially given how most posters here use avy's with black people anyways (prob cause this is a hip hop forum lol).

The idea of white people somehow being culturally inferior isn't new either. But i'm wondering if being white has a sort of negative social connotation in the american left while being black brings a sort of social protection, but at the same time an elevated cultural status.. Maybe i'm reading too much into this.

Tbh a lot of people are racist to brown people

I've had a lot of black people call me a terrorist. I'm not even muslim, I'm Sikh. Of course this isn't to say that all muslims are terrorists (they aren't) but the point is, the group that is most well known for being attacked by racists (blacks) are being racist to another group (browns). It's a little hypocritical IMO. Why can't we just stop being racist to anyone? A lot of black people (not all of them obviously) complain about people being racist to them and then turn around and start being racist to another group. This applies to a lot of groups, not just blacks, and it needs to stop.
