    What constitutes as a pop song? The term is constantly evolving with EDM and rap becoming becoming part of the pop sound instead of the rock sound it had earlier

    Maybe I'm oldschool but pop as a genre is something sounding like Madonna, Katy Perry etc
    Of course a few songs from different genres can get popular without being part of the pop genre or making the artists pop artists. In example Metallica, Skrillex or whatever.

    Honestly this whole discussion resolves when we define what pop is. Is it a genre or whatever is popular at the moment? For me it's the former, but it might be just me.
