Apr 15, 2016 cliches are cliches for a reason: it's boring, but jay, nas, big, and pac have to be in anyone's top ten. 1. Big 2. Jay 3. Ghostface 4. Doom 5. Andre 6. Pac 7. Nas 8. Scarface 9. Ice Cube 10. Wayne of course, you can swap in a ton of people in those last two spots: kanye, rae, e-40, quik, snoop, p---- c, etc etc etc
Apr 15, 2016 combination of a few things: he's on a short list of people who were, at one point, the best rapper alive. that counts for something, even if his window was relatively brief. second: his post-Doggystyle fall-off is wildly exaggerated; he made better music four/eight/ten albums in than a lot of guys we consider "legends." the hits kept coming, and he's figured out how to age gracefully. most of all, he still sounds like snoop.
