May 28, 2026 at 2:18 PM That's what I don't get. How can a self-proclaimed perfectionist release so much trash in the last 15 years. Some of the stuff he released during his pill era when he was clearly phoning it in sounded better.
May 28, 2026 at 4:23 PM Pill gangsta era me was peak. If only I use this power for good literally would k--- any emcee. Prime
May 28, 2026 at 4:39 PM ^ that isn’t “Pill gangsta era” Eminem. And you call yourself a Stan lmao. That freestyle was recorded before Love Me was recorded.
May 28, 2026 at 4:48 PM I think judging by his signings post-cloning, he just genuinely has a bad ear for what good music is and should be. Whether that’s his own music or his own artists music on his label. Look at the silly “cut out the beat for a second” s--- he got obsessed with for years and years, I think he even still does it occasionally, but it was at its worse from like 2011-2015. That was obviously his own idea. I also think the lack of great musicians and studio personnel around him to steer him in certain directions is an another factor. Yeah he still has Resto, but it seems evident that Resto pretty much just plays whatever Em tells him too or wants him to. Mike Strange and Tony Campana also just seem to go along with whatever he wants. Where as back during his prime he had Jeff Bass coming up with all sorts of creative melodies and ideas, and Steve King spearheading the sessions, bringing out the best in everyone. It must have been a weird experience for Rick Rubin to spend like the entirety of 2013 and 2012 “working” on MMLP2 with Eminem, and then suddenly he gets to experience and work on the whole of Yeezus before it drops. Two very different albums. One almost groundbreaking, the other absolutely terrible.
May 28, 2026 at 4:55 PM There’s also the fact the Paul has obviously had much more of a say since Recovery. And Paul’s main goal isn’t for Eminem to make timeless classic music, it’s to get him to sell as much as possible. Wether Eminem is even aware of this I don’t know, since he seems to listen to and pretty much do almost everything Paul suggests to him.
May 28, 2026 at 7:58 PM Always wondered why there wasn't a video for "love me" with the success of 8 mile and lose yourself i think a video for love me would of helped Obie boost his name.
May 28, 2026 at 9:32 PM This is where eminem made the biggest mistake of his career. He should of made shady records a indie label at some point him get off aftermath and Interscope. And he be in total control of what music he puts out. Who he signs and whatever else. .I think its safe to say that Eminem infact knows what hes doing. Does that mean hes alright right and his music is perfect. Absolutely not. But he could of easily done with shady records what tech n9ne did with strange music. Fan or not if you look at techs empire. Probably the most impressive labels to exist in the rap community. And him and trav literally built that label from the ground up. And artists have always had freedom control and everything else over there. I was just watching a interview with Kevin gates and he was shouting out tech says a lot of these mainstream dudes act like don't know tech but hes one of the richest rappers. And he will give up and coming artists his formula and how he did it because he wants to see people make it. Rittz left strange to start his own label. Tech supported it. THAT'S not normal. Krizz kaliko was going to take over strange when tech retires. Krizz quit music due to mental health but his fan base got him back in the game. And he started his own label. And tech supported it
May 29, 2026 at 5:38 AM Eminem had his contract with Web Entertainment and then Aftermath/Interscope. He absolutely does not own any of his music and he up until recently does not have final say on his music.
May 29, 2026 at 5:52 AM Yeah up until like 2009 lol. He owns the majority of his own masters from like the last 15 years. If you think he doesn’t have a final say on his own music 30 years into his own career you’re crazy
