May 18, 2026 at 9:53 AM Who do you think I am Myers? a child? lol jk but yeah of course. Critics normally praise the obscure, quirky s---. Critical acclaim means nothing to me. You ever listened to an MF Doom album??
May 18, 2026 at 10:05 AM Sometimes. Haha. But not sure what u mean? Lots of people seem to care what that fat turd or pitchfork hipsters think of an album.
May 18, 2026 at 10:13 AM What I'm saying is is that a lot of critics like to see artists go outside the box, like for example; 50 cent used to get bad critical reception after Get Rich because he stayed inside the box as in, he stayed fixed on one or two Subject matters. Look at how well praised Kendricks To p---- A Butterfly is but when I listen or better yet listened to that project I almost fell to sleep lol.Critics are going to love that album because it's outside of the box, it's different. I can't stand Doom at all... I think his music is for nerdy, backpack listeners. It's not for me whatsoever. I'd take any 50 project over the critically acclaimed Doom any day of the week. Not dissing people that like Doom.
May 18, 2026 at 10:15 AM I dont know what it is but he sounds terrible and I'm not joking when I say that sxn80 has more talented rappers...
May 18, 2026 at 10:27 AM When I think of critics that's exactly how I picture them; nerdy backpack listeners. Also how I picture people that praise TPAB. And like u said, I don't care what people think either. I like a lot of Drake's music (agree also a lot is average) and I rather listen to iceman than lots of albums that are considered a lot better. If a formula works, why change it just to please critics? DOSlim Shady was pure nostalgia but the majority of the fans liked it, who cares if some critics don't? Speaking off; just noticed that Iceman has 4 critic reviews now; one gave it a 4 another a 8.4 which further proves my point: one was written by someone that likes it and the other by someone that doesn't. Nothing 'objective' about rating music or movies. To an extent at least.
May 18, 2026 at 10:27 AM Also need to listen and review the Doom album for the aotw @BIGFOOT Listened years ago but can't remember really
May 18, 2026 at 10:44 AM It's weird b/c I mostly don't care what people or critics think, because if I like it who cares. However, when I read some critiques of something I like that are just so far off the mark, and that I know other people are reading, it does get under my skin a bit. I used to read the Ringer website a lot, and their review of the walk on water single was just piling on and I know at least one of the reviewers hated the song because em said r-----ed in it, and they claimed he hasn't changed or grown throughout his career, which is just not even close to correct. that's the s--- that pisses me off. i don't care if someone doesn't like something i like, but at least don't like it for accurate reasons if that makes sense lol.
May 18, 2026 at 10:49 AM Don't go with the crowd lol I saw that it's up for review and I think most of the guys in the thread like it already... I'd legit give it a 2/10 lmao
May 18, 2026 at 10:53 AM We agree then. Same with movies to an extent... if a movie has like 20/100 and similar ratings on a few other sites, I'll miss it. I won't watch unless I already was looking forward to watching said film. Critics are normally wrong but I get it if you're an artist or actor etc you'll be checking for what they say.
May 18, 2026 at 10:54 AM It only annoys me when I know whatever is being critiqued is rated terribly low when it's actually much better... but, opinions lol. it is what it is i suppose
May 18, 2026 at 11:34 AM Also I’m serious about the MF doom rapping. He was a Talented man. But omg, sometimes the mixing is so bad and it’s like he is right on the mic.
