May 22, 2024 Eminem has roughly the same # of monthly listeners as Kanye on Spotify and he'll be on the front page when he drops and inserted into playlists, he's obviously not as big as he was but he's a legacy act and people will know when he drops bro lol. An online hit doesn't mean the broader world is up on him. Anyone who knows more than 1 person or doesn't live in their mother's basement knows this. In every day life - working with people, talking with people, of all generations... they do not. He is not followed, thought about or on people's radar like a current popular figure. He's just not. And anyone who can't admit that is either deluded or in denial.

Why are random anecdotes of people you speak to a reference point for music consumption gauging & not the data from streaming/sales? Not everyone pays attention to music at all. Even those that do don’t necessarily keep up with the latest news, trends & releases. The Kendrick x Drake beef set the music world on fire but the average joe won’t have even heard the songs.
