Well it’s not like Drake is busy taking care of his son so yeah he’s probably already releasing a response. The lightskin is so obsessed with this he probably hasn’t slept in the past 2 days

Lol I feel the opposite. Kendrick bringing race into it lost me. “I’m blacker than you” is a weird push.

I don’t see it as Kendrick saying he’s blacker or making fun of lightskins. I see it as Kendrick picking on a clear insecurity Drake has had for years. Pretty sure at one point Drake rapped about not being black enough. That also plays more into the angle that Drake is an actor because he’s trying to act “blacker” to compensate for not feeling black enough.

I used to get teased for being black
And now I'm here and I'm not black enough
    'Cause I'm not acting tough
Or making stories up 'bout where I'm actually from, yeah

From You & The 6 - IYRITL. Ironically, this was his last great album, and even more ironically, it was the first time his faux gangsta persona started coming through. I've always liked that bar tho, I like self-reflective Drake.

Reminds me of this slightly from Lord Knows, Take Care (a genuine classic album, idc what Kendrick says).

I'm hearing all of the jokes, I know that they tryna push me
    I know that showin' emotion don't ever mean I'm a p----
    Know that I don't make music for n----s who don't get p----
So those are the ones I count on to diss me or overlook me

Its a great mixture of Drake being genuinely self-aware but braggadocious at the same time - something his music has sorely lacked in the last decade.

    Drake advantage:
    • there aren’t many new angles that we haven’t heard other rappers go at him over. Euphoria was dope, but zoom out and it’s nothing novel being said…for better or worse, being a punching bag softens the blow
    • battle tested; the audacity to bring AI pac & snoop into the mix shows his comfort

    Kendrick advantage:
    • no doubt is a more technical talented rapper. Kenny brought BARS with euphoria

    Drake disadvantage:
    • subpar pop rapper that’s easy to clown on

    Kendrick disadvantage:
    • hasn’t been tested; as result, Drake has a wide palette of ‘never before’ said material to utilize

But it is a pretty great diss track, I agree. Just that people are so annoyed people pick the Drake song over this or don't call this the greatest song ever made is funny to me.

Which is perfectly normal since rap community and black culture tend to bully people for being white, being lightskin etc. I mean if at some point Drake felt insecure about his skin color that's not on him anyway. If that's the case.

Both disses were pretty good tho. Kendrick's was amazing, exaclty like what I'd have expected from him but I kinda feel like Drake is kinda being attacked for no real reason here and actually he really delivered the first song, verse etc that really interested me in a decade or something. So even though I wouldn't say Drake had the better disses or anything. I kinda support Drake here...
