Apr 8, 2024 This might be the biggest p---- move you could possibly make as a rapper. At this point no response would’ve been better than this bs.
Apr 8, 2024 What a p----. This is worst than a comedian apologizing for a joke, it's a career ending move.
Apr 8, 2024 I borderline stan JCole, but this is awful Lmao. Why put it out in the first place? There is no way he had a change of heart this fast to call it lame.
Apr 8, 2024 He obviously didn't want to do it judging by his lyrics on the song, seems like he got peer pressured by the internet and his homies to do it
Apr 8, 2024 I’m a big J Cole fan… 3 things… 1. He could have easily made a song from the perspective of, I don’t feel any kind of way about you to battle. Battle rapping you over nothing is lame. I’m not feeding into this fake bad energy while I’m focused on the album. It would have been genuine at least. 2. This definitely discredits a lot of these recent verses from Cole where he claims he wants smoke and will k--- any rapper lyrically. People won’t be able to respect the authenticity of his I'm the best claims. 3. If him replying to Kendrick is lame, does he also think Kendrick dissing him in the first place is lame? It’s like he could have diffused this all by just saying “Kendrick dissing me for no reason was lame” and not replied, and even after replying he could have said they both are lame.
Apr 8, 2024 It’s a clever way of getting your jabs out & then being “the bigger man” afterwards before it truly comes to blows. I could see Logic doing something like this if he could rap as well as Cole. Quite clever even though I do think he is being genuine, seen as though his original attack lines were just targeting the most polarising parts of Kendrick’s work for crowd reaction in subsections of the culture — even though Cole himself had attempted to make a similar album to TPAB (story-driven live instrumental w/ jazz elements album) a year afterwards, showing it heavily inspired him despite his comments. I believe it was completely inauthentic only because he never felt animosity towards Kendrick in the first place, so his only option really was to take the pandering angle or submit & he chose both lol.
