May 14, 2022 Knew all the critics would give this 5 star because it’s pretentious, overcomplicated and full of ‘poetry’. No good songs though, which used to be important. d--- so much better
May 14, 2022 ook how in the f--- is this pulling such high ratings I'm not saying the album is bad but... jesus this is nowhere near his best work.
May 14, 2022 depends on which group of people you ask I'd say the overall reception is slightly positive, though it might get worse based on if anything happens with his Auntie Diaries slurs or if it doesn't age well (which I think it'll age better than d--- tbh)
May 14, 2022 I genuinely don't get the "woke, pretentious album" criticism, it's f---ing Kendrick if you didn't expect that than idk what to tell you lol. And this is nowhere near as """pretentious""" as tpab, it's just personal.
May 14, 2022 Oh for the record, this isn't half as pretentious as TPAB which was like that all over. And I also enjoy like half of it. I could easily do without songs like worldwide steppers, United in Grief, Cry Together, Aunt Diary and Mother I Sober. But yes, it is Kendrik so its not a surprise. And as you said, that's personal. Of course it is because there is no such thing as rating music (or any art) "objectively" without any personal bias. But, like I said, I'll definitely keep an handful of dope songs I mentioned!
May 14, 2022 I honestly think this is also some sort of counter reaction to all the critics acting like this is the best album ever made. Just because he talks about some social issues it seems. Man kendrick really becoming the new ******
May 14, 2022 Kendrick could release a LP with nothing but fart sounds and critics would rate it 9/10.
