Those experiences definitely changed him as an artist for the better. Even as an ardent Cole stan from way back in the day, it’s clear to me that he’s just better than he used to be. There’s nothing he can’t do sonically now at a really high level.

It's nice to see him collaborating with a wide variety of artists after he staunchly stuck to no features for multiple albums in a row. Feels like those collabs + going on tour with Young Thug reinvigorated him. While I understand why he'd take pride in writing and producing 100% of his albums as a rapper/producer, collaboration has always been one of the greatest aspects of hip-hop and I'd never have expected him to collab with people like 21, Nudy, and Thug. Love seeing that type of thing because it helps introduce people to new music from both sides of the spectrum.

Great take man. It was truly to his detriment being closed off. And the ironic thing is that he’s always been an incredible collaborator. He took it to another level during that run but he always smashed features.

I really believe that the reception to Sideline Story and Born Sinner really f----- him up. Like if he had come out and been crowned right away, like he expected, I bet he would’ve done this years ago.

I'm not the hugest fan of FHD, but I get why people like it and it was definitely a super important album for him. It was a huge turning point after the lukewarm reception to those first two albums—just proving that he can do it all himself and doesn't need Drake or Miguel features to carry him. And it sounds like this next one is gonna be another turning point for him to the next era in his career (or perhaps it's a centerpiece to an era we're already in w/ ROTD3 and the features run).

So dj dahi, Timbaland and T-minus pretty much confirmed for outside production. Anyone see any other producers post the album?

Is this Cole’s most anticipated project?? Seems like it. So many people are looking forward to it. I guess branching out and working with other artists really has helped. He didn’t need to but it was a smart choice.

Sorry for starting this... but I think Eminem will be on this album, it seems it's J.Cole's biggest project yet and Jermaine admired Em, Em gave props to Cole, Cole and Royce already collaborated etc etc.
