Apr 24, 2021 wtf I had no idea this even came out, @Antman put my onto yachty's detroit s--- awhile back. featuring.
Apr 24, 2021 This album is different than most his albums cuz it's a celebration of Michigan rap (Yachty is from Atlanta but the last few years he's been doing a lot of features with Michigan/Detroit rappers). Definitely worth a listen. I liked his first mixtape Lil Boat cuz it was just this kid who's not very good at singing who sang anyway and it's really endearing cuz it felt like he was just recording all this s--- in his childhood room (and he rapped over like Super Mario 64 music lol). After that he released a bunch of albums that aren't very good but have a handful of good songs. Last year he released Lil Boat 3 which I felt like was a return to form. I think he got pigeonholed into the more melodic side of things when he's a much better rapper than people give him credit for:
Apr 24, 2021 I dont think you'll like much of Yachty's music, but BC described it perfectly. If you're interested check out that first Lil Boat mixtape. It was so weird and interesting at the time just as SoundCloud was gaining so much traction and like BC said - this kid who obviously didnt know what the h--- he was doing was just having so much fun making dumb catchy music you couldn't help but get up in it. And so much music since has bee inspired by that, I think. This Michigan tape is something completely different. Over the last few years he's collaborating with all the new up-and-comers out of Detroit and Flint who are just a bunch of raw street dudes who dont give a f--- and say f----- up s---. Its a completely different sound and style and I dont know how tf it happened but Yachty's become a staple on all of their albums and tapes and singles and he kinda goes in on almost every single feature. I'm two listens into this tape and I f---ing love it so far. I think worth giving it a try
