Jan 3, 2019 Good idea! I don’t see Marty going to AEW tbh. He’s decidedly not been included with the rest of the guys when it comes to the ‘stick together’ thing so I think he intends to eventually work for wwe
Jan 3, 2019 Marty is an interesting one...I really could see him going to any of the three. With ROH throwing around money to stay relevant (like they did with Bandido) I could see them building Marty up for the first 6 months of this year and make a big pitch to keep him. If WWE is smart they offer him a top spot in the company, like they are currently offering Kenny, but instead they'll probably do some dumb s--- and pitch him on being the face of WWE UK lol Keep in mind too he makes a ton off merch...he was the #1 seller on pro wrestling tees in 2018, even outselling The Bucks and the original Bullet Club shirt. WWE doesn't negotiate merch splits with anyone so he would be losing out of that too.
Jan 3, 2019 Can’t see Marty ever being anything in a McMahon owned promotion...doesn’t fit the look or anything
Jan 3, 2019 It's a shame...Pete Dunne should have been feuding with AJ Styles over the WWE Title last year but instead he was regulated to a lower tier show.
Jan 4, 2019 Double or Nothing is now pretty much confirmed to be Memorial Day weekend. Meltzer said they will build to that show for the first 5 months of the year, then start running the Tuesday night tv show and weekend house shows in June. Idk which one I'm going to pick (probably DoN since since it's in Vegas and I live in L.A.) but I am going to attend either Double or Nothing or the G1 in Dallas this year.
Jan 5, 2019 It’s going to be a real tough ticket to get, unless you want to pay a ton on Stub Hub. Even though it’ll be 13,000 seats people from all over Texas and the surrounding states will be trying to go...not to mention the hardcore njpw fans that will fly in from Cali for the East Coast to see any new japan show that is in the U.S.
Jan 5, 2019 Wtf this looked like a BTB when i opened it. Had no idea another promotion was being made. Looks interesting with the young bucks and cody rhodes as vice presidents
Jan 5, 2019 Saw that some writer said the contracts he's hearing are comparable to WWE and another writer said he heard similar things and the numbers are surprising.
Jan 5, 2019 Even better than WWE deal when you consider the same money but fewer dates...basically WCW contracts all over again! Meltzer alluded to, but didn't come right out and say, that after DoN when AEW gets started on their actual schedule they will only be running 3 shows a week. The live Tuesday night tv show and 2 house shows on weekends.
Jan 5, 2019 It's frustrating whenever I hear him talk about it now, very clear he's too close to the story to give much until it's cleared to go.
Jan 5, 2019 Yeah, he obviously knew back in Oct when all this started...but I don't blame him for not blowing the story and waiting for them to announce it themselves when they wanted to. Now I think he is just waiting for them to announce their tv deal and he will start talking about it like any other promotion. He already this week gave details that they didn't give themselves, like the date of DoN, their schedule, who they are trying to sign, etc. He's been in this position before when was really good friends with high ups at WCW and it was fine so it's all good.
Jan 7, 2019 Holy s--- so Dave just said on WOR that New Japan has decided to choose to work with only ROH and not AEW. I thought the Kenny s--- from a couple hours ago was definitely a work but now, f---...maybe not. Everyone said during All In they were going to stick together moving forward and it looks like Kenny is keeping his word. So dumb for New Japan to pick ROH...I get they have the MSG together show coming up but there is no contract saying they have to ONLY work with ROH and can't also work with AEW @NJPWBros
Jan 7, 2019 Haven't listened yet. Really feel like ROH doesn't want them to, or else Marty would still be Elite and The Bucks wouldn't have done their farewells. They really can't go into that MSG show with tension/infighting over who's aligned with who, especially when they've been partnered and together for so long. Dumb move from both parties, tells me they're scared when they should be bending over backwards saying please.
