Glad to see someone else recognizes greatness. One of the most criminally underrated things to come out of the 90s. Title fixed

At least for me, the cast just doesn’t stack up to past ones imo. Original character aren’t as funny. And the tendency to have skits where the cast are teens is kinda cringe. Every now and then s--- is funny but it’s 96% cringe

Never even heard of Mr. Show lol. I will check it out though. Mad TV has some iconic sketches, but so does SNL obviously. The Stuart bits on Mad TV always killed me

A lot of the members are leaving before the next season starts. I'm pretty sure they've had their largest cast of all time this season. Covid probably postponed a lot of the departures, so it'll be interesting to see some new people being the majority for the first time in a few years

Lol. SNL hasn't been "above-average level quality" since Will Ferell left their a---. Driest bs writing content ever. And Mr. Mulroney corny a--- is partly to blame. Thank God we have real comedy in the world because Lorne has always been a hack. Without SNL, I guarantee he wasn't seeing any parts of the p----. Yeah, I said it. He also ain't s--- for how he treated Damon Wayans or Martin Lawrence. His 1970's and 1980's toupees make a hard-body heterosexual female really consider doing "A-Complete-180", in terms of finding either-or gender attractive. It's okay that some people like vanilla, bland, corny a--- comedy. However, real ones know the only reason SNL has survived for so long (I'm sorry, but it's true.), is because upper-class white collar humor can afford to be as consistently corny and safe as it always has been. f--- SNL. Kids in The Hall used to s--- on it, In the Early 1990's. S/O Dave Foley. P.S.: Kel Mitchell is still funnier and more talented than Kenan Thompson. Much.

Mr. Show was great. I even liked their attempt on Netflix but as with nearly everything, not everything hits.

MadTV was great and much darker than SNL but they had misses too. I honestly find a lot of the Bobby Lee sketches unfunny. I like Bobby as a podcaster and am sure he’s a great comedian but it seemed like the bit was always that he was naked and gross and not based on actual talent (which is weird cause Bobby can act).

SNL has been on much longer and yes they have a lot of misses. Could they use edgier humour? Sure. But Kate McKinnon alone is a powerhouse of a talent. Michael Che and Colin Jost are good writers. Kenan’s always solid.

There’s plenty of “fringe” comedy out for you, if you don’t like SNL. I don’t see the reason to complain about it.

That said, the negative press about Musk drove me nuts. Like who gives a f---?

Never seen Mr. Show tbh but I've only heard great things.

I think with any sketch show, it's always hit or miss. Even Chappelle's Show (which also has the benefit of not having that many episodes) or SNL in its prime, there were always some clunkers that we don't remember because they were bad. Like with all things, we tend to romanticize the good. Like I'm not a huge fan of SNL anymore but when I occasionally tune in there's usually 1-2 sketches I can enjoy, and I recognize its importance as a long-standing tradition/American comedy institution.

Mr. Show is my favorite sketch comedy show of all time and I rank it up with the Wire and the Sopranos and Arrested Development.

After it was canceled they toured doing old sketches and new sketches... I saw them perform at the Moore and ran into most of the cast at the Showbox after the show for a concert (Southern Culture on the Skids and The .45s) and bought drinks for David Cross, Bob Odenkirk and John Ennis for a couple of hours... it was a bad a--- night.

Oh d--- in Seattle? The Showbox is a great venue, they were gonna demolish it and put in apartments (of f---ing course) but I believe it got saved. I saw so many good artists there...Lauryn Hill, D'Angelo, Isaiah Rashad/Schoolboy Q/Vince Staples all together, Odd Future as a collective, Young Thug, Danny Brown...the list goes on lol

I think the only thing I ever saw at The Moore was The Book of Mormon.
