For context. The government here in Canada (where the video is from) is trying to pass a bill that makes referring to someone with pronouns they don't approve of, illegal. Clearly this is a violation of free speech.

Must be exhausting to have that little meaning in life to resort to being offended as a hobby.

I find it strange how square and non rebellious the left has become compared to the right. it's bizarro world. Weird to see young people being the one's who are easily offended.

I mean, the Charter guarantees us a right to free speech, but if you're speaking realistically, you're right. Free speech has been under attack for some time.

    i'm speaking literally

Freedom of speech in Canada is not absolute; Section 1 of the Charter allows the government to pass laws that limit free expression so long as the limits are reasonable and can be justified.

yeah we're *technically* granted free speech but only within what the law permits and that's governed by the arbitrary reasoning of whoever is passing the law, right now that's the liberals, and that's not really free speech if it's being limited

Section 2 guarantees freedom of expression.

Section 1 states that any of the rights in the charter are subject to "reasonable limits." The question becomes, what limits are considered reasonable? And when does it truly stop us from having free speech/ expression?

But to say Canada has no free speech is kind of a stretch.

we do but it's not guaranteed
"what limits are considered reasonable" is exactly why we don't have true freedom of speech, because there are evidently limits that can be set or changed at any time based on who's in charge and what they deem reasonable
