Mar 19, 2015 I'm looking to get a gaming laptop in the next couple of months. Anyone know of any good ones? I'm not interested in Alienware, they're the Beats of gaming computers. PS: If this is a thread already, my bad.
Mar 19, 2015 Gaming laptops are no good, avoid getting one. If you really need to get one, MSI is good
Mar 19, 2015 I'm not really looking to run anything insane. Just stuff like fallout, payday 2, lfd2, etc. I'm also looking to mess around with game creation tools and mods. If y'all know of any normal laptops that could run this stuff perfectly I'm down with that too. @funkadelic ?
Mar 19, 2015 You'd be way better off doing a desktop build (you don't HAVE to manually put it together yourself, but you can). You'd probably be able to get better specs at a cheaper price than if you paid for a gaming laptop. It'll help you out in the long run, I promise you fam.
Mar 19, 2015 Yeah, you could get a cheaper PC by building it If you can get a laptop with the right specs, it'll run everything you want though I would recommend Intel processor though, i5 or i7, at least 8 gbs of ram
Mar 19, 2015 I've thought about that alot, but I like the idea of the portability that a laptop offers. I'm still considering it, but I'll take your word for it. Thanks man.
Mar 19, 2015 Idk what yall think about the lenovo z series, but thwy have crazy deals goin on. This coupon code USPZ579319 like 50% off a $1100 laptop. They have real good specs, but ive heard the display could be better. http://shop.lenovo.com/us/en/laptops/lenovo/z-series/z50/
Mar 19, 2015 Kinda funny, I bought the Z50 two weeks ago It's a very solid laptop especially if you need to work and don't want to spend too much money. Like you said, the display isn't that good, it's something you'd expect from a desktop display a few years ago. The quality of gameplay depends on what model you choose. Mine was customized so that I can't really state an opinion about it.
Mar 19, 2015 i5 will be enough unless you're going to render videos and images, no need to spend extra money on an i7 when you won't be needing one
Mar 19, 2015 honestly there's nothing wrong with gaming laptops, i don't have the space for a desktop and my laptop can run anything...but don't get MSI as their customer service is really bad. you can get essentially desktop-powered computers in laptop cases these days.
Mar 19, 2015 There's lots of things that are wrong with gaming laptops. The general consensus is that you should try to avoid buying a gaming laptop, packing that much power into a such small chassi rarely works out in the long run, and not to mention how much more b--- for your buck you get if you get a stationary
Mar 19, 2015 I'm not denying that a desktop is cheaper in the long run but for some people it's just not feasible, a gaming laptop is a perfectly viable alternative.
Mar 19, 2015 Nobody said that it's not a perfectly viable alternative, I refuted your claim that there's nothing wrong with gaming laptops, not that you're denying that desktops are cheaper
Mar 19, 2015 And then there is this crazy beast: MSI GT80 2QE Titan SLI Fully upgradable with vendor support for at least 2 years. Desktop graphics, mechanical keyboard, and huge screen. Net hole in your pocket? $4500 for the highest tier model.
