Just listened to fine line recently and on paper its a pretty good song, but his yo-yoing between grossly unnecessary yelling, to whispering delivery actually f---s up the song.

I know this s--- is rife from 2010 onwards, but any other really notable examples spring to mind? Almost famous is also knocked down several pegs by the stupid screaming.

    where im at verse
    stronger than i was verse
yellow brick rd second verse. i like it although i think it would be better if he intertwined it with a normal rap delivery didnt keep the same tone all the way through

Great thread! Off the top of my head:

    Fine Line
    The Monster
    Headlights
    Beautiful Pain
    Medicine Man
    Believe
    In Your Head
    Leaving Heaven
    Higher

Basically most of his music from MMLP2 to Revival.

I could name plenty of decent songs suffering from poor delivery, but none ruined by it, since a song can hardly be considered decent if it's ruined by something. Some of the most regrettable examples that come to mind are Discombobulated, Believe (especially the first two verses), Arose, Fine Line, Bad Guy

Most songs on MMLP 2- yelling aggressive flow for no reason
    Recovery as well

I find both of those albums so hard to listen too

I kinda like that one tone on yellow brick road, but I think that comes down to taste, vs later examples where its plain horrendous

Arose. A mostly well written death-bed song, sadly from Revival era. It gets props for the content, and for being much better than most of that album; but the delivery is still off.

The delivery of this part about proof is so bizarre it feels like a bot malfunctioning:

The thought of no more me and you
You gave me shoes, Nikes like new for me for school

Its staggering that's the same guy that rapped Drug Ballad.

I just have him shouting 'like a submariiiiiiiiiiine' living in my head forever apparently. Forget Drug Ballad, it's the same guy who rapped Castle just one track earlier (though clearly that song was not Revival era).

And the bit before it 'I love you beaaaaaan didn't want you to know I was strug'eliiiiiiing'

I love Arose's sample though, those vocals sound majestic in the background. Castles delivery is so much better but there's something lacklustre about it. The beat, chorus and the fact he could have said more in the verses. Great concept, not so great execution.

Came here to post Fine Line

Psycopath Killer is another one. Probably worse.

Detroit Vs. Everybody... His delivery ruined a lot of material around that era

I would enjoy Framed a lot more if he didn't do that weird "FRAAAAAAAAAAAMED" s--- on the hook

Agree with most of what's already been said, especially headlights and arose

Asswhole. No other song comes close to how bad that sounds. Instrumental is a big factor but if you look at the lyrics on its own, you would think it’s decent. Delivery just as off, as the over-bearing instrumental.

This is like THE quintessential example. The flow is so asinine but the atmosphere of the song is great.

For me, I think Tone Deaf should get a shout. Could be incredibly fun, and I do like it, but his monotone voice gets grating when it's for almost 5 minutes. He should've given it some more jaunt like Alfred's Theme.

Doesn't just get props for the content.

It's one of his best vocal emotional performances ever too. Some of the detail in delivery, the emotional lines; s--- like that he does gets taken for granted. Everybody always on about the writing - good or bad - but imagine Jay-Z or Nas being able to deliver such a vocal performance for that emotional concept. Lol. No chance. He's like an actor on it.
