I used Wikipedia and some of the films had three/four countries listed so I just did the first one for them all.

Not trying to discredit you guys. :khaled2:

The whole idea of nationality in film is very shaky.
My favorite example is Brokeback Mountain being a Taiwanese film.
I mean Ang Lee went to film school there. So why not?

Yeah, it's weird. I almost put Dolan's Mommy on my list (would be fifth) until I realized that it's Canadian and technically not foreign to me.

I mean Kieslowski was a polish director and based on that we can say it was a polish film. Three Colors and The Decalogue are regarded as one of the best movies/tv series in polish cinematography.

French Canadian seems close enough to me.
Still need to see Mommy. Dolan is the only director in his age bracket imo.

    Ida was a masterpiece. @Radeem

You can, but the language spoken is French, it takes place in France, the actors & actresses are French, and all three films in the trilogy were produced in part by French production companies.

I wouldn't call Birdman a foreign film just because Alejandro González Iñárritu is Mexican.

Polish actors/actresses appeared in these three films as well. I understand your way of thinking that's why I suggest calling it a French/Polish co-production. This is the only way to reach a compromise.

There shouldn't have to be a compromise. Blue and Red are 95% French.
