Mar 5, 2016 Music - Lots of variety, R&B, Rock n Roll was alive. Now, rap is the main genre on the radio and 80% of it sucks. Autotune wasn't plastered in half of songs back then. Most artists didn't try to copy Taylor Swift or Drake. Also, we went from 2pac to 2 chainz. Movies - 00's had some great movies for sure, but there has been a glut of superhero/male power fantasy crap. I'll take The Matrix, Fight Club and American Beauty over anything released last year. Video Games - Back then we had games like Rayman, Crash Bandicoot and so on. Most of the modern industry is filled with soulless military games. Toys - There were lots of cool colorful unique creative toys for kids. Now it's just ipads and ipad cases. Politics - There was always gridlock but never a totally dysfunctional government with only a 20% approval rating for Congress. Economy - There were lots of jobs. Now the middle class is vanishing while rich get richer and poor get poorer. College degrees were worth something. The government was moving toward a budget surplus in the 90's (now the debt has been exploding). Health - We've been getting fatter. War - There were conflicts, but nothing like 9/11, Iraq War, ISIS and so on. Technology - 90's had the internet and cell phones, but not to the point where it consumed our lives and increased our attention span. Real Life - That's where people used to meet, hang out, play sports outside and talk to each other. Growing Up Sucks - Most of us were kids back then and had no major responsibility. Then, adolescence, work, relationship problems and so on hit us.
Mar 5, 2016 wow, youre right. 80's were a wall street cocaine party frenzy. meh. 60's and 70's were a bunch of hippies and fuel shortages. 50's were too suburban. 40's had ww2 and the draft. 30's had the depression and anything before that absolutely s----d if you were black.
Mar 5, 2016 The 80s gave us some of the most memorable pop culture tv shows, movies, music, games, etc. Best year in my opinion.
Mar 5, 2016 I wish I could have been a 90s or Early 2000s kid instead of today. I have more in common with the kids of the last rwo decades than the ones of today. Most rappers I listen to are usually from 1990 - 2008. I can't stand most of the music today, and you guys are so lucky you didn't have to grow up with it. You guys envy me because I get to listen to albums like The Chronic for the first time but I envy you all even more because yall got to grow up in the 90s and early 2000s!
Mar 5, 2016 Music - We have Travis Scott, Drake & Koolo who fed us in 2011 Movies - We have the MCU, Star Wars, DCCU and Toy Story 3/4 Video Games - Metal Gears, GTA's, Uncharted, Last of us, Cod and NBA Toys - Fleshlight Politics - idc bout this s--- Economy - I have £££ so idc about this s--- either Health - Im healthy af even with a r-----ed a--- heart War - War will never die Technology - This is self explanatory Real Life - we still do that but now we older we dont play out we f--- chicks and get wasted Growing Up Sucks - It sucks but f--- it you're gonna die anyway
Mar 5, 2016 No no no, I actually was born in the right generation. Society just has a major problem in which a 100k years of evolutionary change happened in the past 10 years with changing politics, economy, technology and culture. I think eventually we'll adapt to these changes and good things will happen, but people are just not built to handle generations of change throughout their adolescence.
Mar 5, 2016 As far as a unified society in America is concerned the 90s are easily the best decade. There was still occurrences of racism & corruption but it never peaked to crazy levels we've seen in the decades before & after
Mar 5, 2016 The best movies of Star Wars were released between 1977-1983 I couldn't agree more about the video games
Mar 5, 2016 I just want to void OPs entire post and speak on something that I consider an expertise Saying video games where better in the 90s is completely false, due to the fact that the PS2 is widely regarded as the most powerhouse and successful gaming console ever and the newest generations of consoles as well have produced some of the greatest stories and technological marvels in the gaming industry.
