Apr 18, 2016 It's the song that most brings the album's concept to live. For all three verses, Kendrick perfectly paints how outside forces are stopping his true potential. In the first verse, he describes how gangbangers stop him on his way from bible study. Because they live in the same madd city, they assume he's like them so they beat him up. Same with the second verse, the cops assume he's a in a g--- because he's black and have their hounds sniff him. They also beat him up. In third verse, he has to do drugs because all his friends are doing it. The song conveys much pain and is basically a cry for help from Kendrick. I sometimes cry while listening to it.
