It's not the beats fault. If you gave 2010-2015 Em similar beats or even the exact same beats, he still wouldn't be able to come up with same use of his voice or even flow over them f---ing normal. And lets be fair, Em carried those beats on TES

Yeah, anyway, they fit the time perfectly. While they aren't my favorite and certainly haven't aged well, they fit the whole "show" or "carnival" theme he had going then.

And to my point... how could a 8 or 10 year old (or however old you were) know what worked at the time?

because they're mediocre at best, and not in a way that can be explained away by the period. no one would make the "regrets" beat in 2000 or 2005 or 2015. no one should have made the "business" beat in any year.

    regrets... the jay z song?

business is good lol, or at least was good in 2002. agree eminem overall is a dated artist, but lets not undercut his contributions to pop music more than necessary lol. yeesh!

I wanted to disagree so bad with his point, but listening to that song today, that beat is trash

I have been listening to it lately and love it more than I did before. I started to appreciate production on this album too.

true havent listened in a bit... i remember liking it at the time, i dont doubt it hasnt held up. em was never a great producer, and his limited skills mainly just gave a specific foundation for his melodramatic verses

TES production is very poor to be honest. MMLP's beats s--- all over it.

It's made that way, because Em sounded better on beats like this. Same thing goes for Dre beats on MMLP.

Also if you're comparing it to the current trends, there's a still a shitload of us that don't like a lot of the trap inspired beats and modern day beats - so it'd still be found appealing to a large audience. I'm not hating trap inspired beats or modern hip hop it's just a lot of the huge artists right now just aren't for me.

Encore would've been eminem's best album if you cut down 5 songs and add leaked and bonus tracks.

It would depend on personal preference really. Sure, it's a far cry from the production of today but, id you're like me and just can't get behind the trap style that we're seeing more and more of, then an album of TES style production would be welcomed with open arms. Don't tell me you're not even a little bit curious to see how badly 2015 Em would f--- up the sexiness that is Square Dance.
