Aug 24, 2015 I don't have a problem with people hating on mmlp2 but it's kind of ridiculous when they try to talk up recovery while hating on mmlp2. there's nothing wrong with thinking post-prime eminem's music sucks (it mostly does) but don't try to convince me that, that contrived and trite pop album was anything more than embarrassing.
Aug 25, 2015 What's with all these MMLP2 threads? Uh.. Calling it MMLP2 and claiming Eminem was going "back to the basics" was a gimmicky cash grab. There are only a few listenable songs (at best). Rick Rubin was an awful influence. This album marked the start of Eminem's permanent choppy flow. Each verse usually sounds promising then snowballs into a trainwreck with metaphor after metaphor about feces or Eminem's penis. Survival is an afterthought of a song that only landed on the album due to Call of Duty commercials. Berzerk is Eminem's worst single next to We Made You. The Monster is another formulaic predicable "pop singer on the chorus" radio single. So Far.. is close to Eminem's worst song, ever. Don't even get me started on Stronger Than I Was. Headlights is an insincere, contrived apology. Rap God is 2 minutes too long. Who gives a s--- about the Ray J / Fab beef? Love Game, while underrated, is a waste of a Kendrick feature. Speaking of features, Eminem can get GOAT artists on his album, yet he continues to settle for Rihanna and Skylar Grey. Parking Lot skit is the highlight of the album (not kidding). Eminem is just out of ideas. There's no creativity. He has nothing to say. He's become the pop star that his fans have always hated. It's just not a good album. Even Stan 2 is forgettable. That being said, MMLP2 is still miles ahead of ShadyXV.
Aug 25, 2015 that's a pretty outrageous statement..worse than Just Lose It? Crack a Bottle? a--- Like That? (to name a few) Berzerk is actually one of the few highlights on the album
Aug 25, 2015 Berzerk is literally about nothing. It was badly received. The second verse is the worst on the whole album. Not Afraid catches too much flack for god awful attempts at "wordplay". It's still a decent single that saved Eminem's career.
Aug 25, 2015 Actually, it did pretty well download-wise, but I don't remember ever hearing it out in the real world. Do you?
Aug 25, 2015 Actually yes (surprisingly). It did better (at least in my area) than I thought it would.
Aug 25, 2015 Could not have said it any better myself. I would have to agree with @Spacemonkey though, a--- Like That & Just Lose it are worse singles thank Berzerk. It's a pointless song, but the hook alone makes it better and more listenable than a song about an arabic dog puppet and whatever the h--- Just Lose It is about.
Aug 25, 2015 Chad likes both a--- Like That & Just Lose It more than Berzerk. Guess it's a time thing.
