    I think it depends on the definition of king of NY...is it:

    1. The most popular rapper who happens to be from New York City?
    2. The most popular rapper within New York City? aka who do people in NY actually bump?
    3. The best rapper from New York City?

    Personally I think it's mainly #2 with a little bit of #3 thrown in. Cuz if you're the best but no one listens to you then you can't be king lol.

    I defer to @Antman on this though since he actually lives there

    Whoever has the most presence and authority if you ask me. I felt like Biggie, 50, and Pop fit those descriptions.

    French and the Coke Boys are rly popular esp in Queens.

    NY rap is in a really dire state if you cant think of 10 emcees to put over French Montana.

    Like, I'm not dissing the guy, he makes club songs, and thats fine. But not King of NY.

    No one listed here is on the level of either Jay or Nas.

    They are the “kings” of NY, and have a 25-30 year body of genre-defining music to prove it.
