People want this Em back?
I grew up with him. It was funny when he rapped like this when I was back in high school. And then he matured in his late 20s and I appreciated the type of music he made with TES and 8 mile and the better parts of encore. I felt like I was maturing similarly to him (even if he was much older).
Now he's 45 years old and rapping like this? f--- that. I don't listen to the SSLP except once in a blue moon for nostalgia. And I certainly doing want to listen to him trying to recreate that as a grown man. It's ridiculous.

I see your point but that's what he's doing. Even Big Sean said when he heard it it reminded him of why he became an EM fan in the first place and that it reminded him of when he first heard him. That's the style he's apparently going back to. The Slim Shady persona material

now he needs a new persona, just like he did with Recovery, this time I hope he starts a new thing....


I'd love a dark album about his new self, talking about the isis and religions, about his daughter growing up, about kim recovering............... he needs to do an old Eminem persona.. wise humble GOAT man, clever but not over nerdy, and entertaining without cringiness, and actually enjoyable and chill to listen to.

If you really believe that flow-wise No Favors is in the same league as SSLP, MMLP or TES then you need a hearing aid.

Not talking about the nonsense content, just the flow, the way he rides the beat.

Never said the same league as SSLP or MMLP but the closest to that style that we've heard in years. I don't know why you brought up TES in this discussion. Completely different style/approach/flow than the MMLP and SSLP

Okay forget about TES. No Flavors' choppy flow is nowhere near close to SSLP/MMLP's flow was. The way he rode beats back then was flawless. No Favor sounds like an acapella freestyle which they had to put a beat under to make it work.

If this is Em trying to be 'old' Em, I'd rather have 'new' Em.

Dude you need to revisit those albums and rethink what riding the beats flawlessly means. I admit that during TES/ 8mile era his flow was flawless but it couldn't be further from the truth for the SSLP and MMLP. Bottom line is everyone complained when he evolved to Recovery EM to bring back the old Slim Shady and now they're complaining again after he did just that. EM can't win with you people! Most of you don't even know what you want to hear from him anymore SMH lmao!!

Em used to be a perfectionist, he never was happy about his work and tried to improve every time. SSLP/MMLP-era Em would've never released a verse like No Flavors.
Even if you don't agree that he rode beats flawlessly on SSLP/MMLP, you have to agree his flow was waaaaaay better than whatever happened on No Flavors (especially the second half of the verse). The choppy part ruins it.

Otherwise, let's agree to disagree.

Just to clarify I am not saying that No Favors is Em's best work by any means. I'm just stating that it does not deserve anywhere near the amount of hate that members of this forum are giving it. I see what he's trying to do in turning back into Slim Shady. If you don't like EM as Slim Shady then that's fine but turning into Slim Shady back in 97 is the reason you even know who EM is today. I think it's a dope decision to do a 44 year old version of Slim Shady
