    I been slacking hard, just done a few flyers and bettering my graphic design skills. Looking for some work actually, I need to learn how to market myself better.

    Yeah something about the background is slightly off, it's not bad but could be improved. Think there might be too many colours, but I get you did that to create separation, or perhaps if it blended more smooth. Nice site though.

    Thanks man! I'll have to think of some ideas to improve on it.

    I have a dribbble account but have never used it, not sure if I know how to invite someone, but I will if I can.

    What's the difference between it and Behance? I have maybe a half dozen things uploaded to Behance but idk which I should use. I mainly just use my own website to showcase my work and it's gotten me a few job interviews.

    btw post your graphic design/flyers in this thread too, or on your dribbble when you get it, I'm interested to see it.

    Thanks for stickying this thread @Cyreides if that was you who did it :lsmile:

    I had a 4.5 hour job interview for a new web dev job, and I aced it.. Unfortunately that was about a week and a half ago and I haven't heard back yet so I'm fearing I didn't get the job.

    I just quit my 9-5 web dev job, but i'll continue to make s---.

    I have nothing "cool" to show atm, because all of the sites I built with the agency were for small to medium business, but i'm currently working on a project with a friend that includes building out a little app using backbone.js and an open data api for political shiz. Once it's live i'll link it up.

    As for the people looking for resources, http://udemy.com - this site has a ton of really good web dev courses, and always use Google to find a $10 coupon for the courses, never pay the "real" price. I just picked up js, backbone, and angular courses the other day.

    @coldkick @BorisTheBlade @JFK @AnalOnFirstDate

    Can any of you guys take a look at my site and see if they can help me with a problem? kstardesigns.com

    I've summed up the problem here and haven't really gotten any good answers. Basically, I've perfected the responsive design but it looks like s--- on Android phones. Apparently some of the media queries don't work for some reason, and I've added all the correct meta tags (I think) which should correct this, but I'm not sure.

    Code:
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0"/>
    I think it has something to do with the jquery I've added, because none of my other sites have this problem: http://kstardesigns.com/js/scripts.js

    Any incite you guys could give would be great! I am sure there are some non-best practices on my site (feel free to point them out) but mostly for now I just need to figure out this d--- Android problem.

    Nice - post some stuff once you have it! I need to learn backbone, etc still.

    No idea how to fix responsive Android problems. Not a dev guy outside of HTML/CSS.

    Your site's UX is pretty good. There are some slight style changes you could make but overall, nice job!

    Thanks for the feedback! I love the work you're doing for the S80 app design so I figured I'd ask you as well. I appreciate the answer.

    Forgot about this thread....

    @Loyalty your site works absolutely fine on my Android Sony phone. So I'm not sure right now, I'll have a look into it later and see if I can help you, has me beat at the moment.

    Have you tried setting the viewport details from js?

    Code:
    <meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width, initial-scale=1.0, maximum-scale=1.0, user-scalable=0" id="viewport" />
    var scale = 1 / window.devicePixelRatio;
    $('#viewport').attr('content', 'user-scalable=no, initial-scale='+scale+', width=device-width');

    Thanks for checking that! It's hard not having an Android myself. Is your phone a smaller Android? I'm wondering if it's only affecting Androids that have retina display or something
    Thanks Boris, that makes sense. So if I add it to the bottom of my .js file, it should reset the viewport correctly after the jquery I made messes the viewport up, right? I tried it, and I'm not sure if it works. I've been using https://www.browserstack.com/responsive since I don't have an Android myself, but it only screenshots the sites. And I realized I left my meta tag on there so the HTML has 2 meta tags itself, after adding yours with the ID.. I will have to remove my original one when I get home and see if that fixes it.

    Are you designing the site in photoshop first or jumping straight into HTML/CSS?

    You are always going to be limited if designing with CSS.

    Small and seamless textures can make a massive difference. See the below design I did for one of my iPad apps. Textures are minimal but still is convincingly realistic.

    Also, when designing a website you should create a pallet first with complimentary colours. Kuler is great for that https://color.adobe.com/

    It doesn't seem to have made a difference, but I can only really check on https://www.browserstack.com/responsive so I'm not sure if they are seeing a cached version of the site. Do you think it's just best to get rid of the jquery resize functions altogether to avoid this?

    I usually do a very rough layout design in Photoshop first, but not much more than that. I didn't think too much about the colors (except for the portfolio websites section, I tried to pick colors that match the site shown). I do use Kuler once in a while but I haven't thought to pick a pallet and stick to it. Also that is a good tip about the textures, I have only used them a couple times before but haven't gotten too creative with them.

    Thanks for the feedback, I'm going to change up the color scheme a bit after I take care of this Android problem.

    Also, that's a real nice app design. I enjoyed your Section80 app design as well. Are any for sale in the app store that I can download? :)

    bump

    Anyone working on any new sites or anything? I made this little clock for fun after taking a Team Treehouse course on SVG: http://codepen.io/kaisle/full/adrpmv/. It tells you whether you should drink wine or coffee, depending on the time of day. Inspired by my wife and her friend who drink coffee or wine all day.

    Another thing I made - I was just curious how Google does the "hours of business" for companies when you look one up, with today on top. So I did it in Javascript for fun: http://codepen.io/kaisle/full/OMrrGz/.

    Also currently working on a website for a guy who's selling medical marijuana products. He's basically designing it though and I'm coding it, I don't really like how it looks but it's about 95% done if anyone wants to see.

    Downloading Xcode now to take a basic course on learning Swift 2.0 to build an iPhone app. The program is 4.8GB though so it'll be a while before I can start..
