d---. is far behind GKMC & especially TPAB to me. I think TPAB is the greatest hip hop album of all time no cap.

Time has done it no favors. personally the only track I regularly visit from that album is Wesley's Theory.

It's kinda bizarre too - clear critic bait and the whole album is just setting up Kendrick's 2Pac fan fiction which feels grotesque and out of bounds to me.

Why does Kendrick get to edit the fabrics of rap history to serve his narrative that he's pac's succesor. Who gives him that artistic license? Who even says Pac would appreciate that?

how will future listeners who aren't as educated on Pac's legacy as today interpret this? Will people actually believe 2Pac blessed Kendrick during his life?

the whole thing just feels off to me.

The funny thing, too, is that Kendrick felt waaaaay more like Outkast's successor than Tupac's on that album. The whole album felt like a modern tribute to Aquemini but with Kendrick's own spin with the subject matter.

    Five more unpopular opinions:

    1. Ice Cube is just as much of a GOAT contender as Nas, Jay, Em, Pac, and Big. He just doesn't get the same props because of his acting career.

    2. It takes just as much skill for a trap or 808's rapper to make a top-charting radio song with mass appeal as it does for a Youtube rapper(like DAX) to do their best "Rap God" or "Worldwide Choppers" impression in all of their songs. And this is coming from someone who values technical skill.

    3. Late Registration is Kanye's best album. Not College Dropout. And not MBDTF.

    4. Eminem's critics/"haters"(e.g. Music reviewers, Lord Jamar, Machine Gun Kelly, Joe Budden, Nick Cannon, etc.) have played just as much of a role in keeping Eminem relevant in this day and age as his actual music.

    5. Bone Thugs N Harmony is a top three group OAT in hip hop with only the Wu Tang Clan and Outkast being in the same league. When it comes to the combination of rap skills, songwriting, hits, sales and influence/impact, they're top tier in every way.

It's just a generalized term for those sing-songy melodic rappers who rap over Roland TR-808 style beats. Kid Cudi, Drake, Post Malone, Future, Lil Uzi Vert, Young Thug, etc. fall into this category but it's not really a technical term.

Edit: It's like trap music but without the "trap" themes and content.

Touche, but I think Bizzy Bone and Krayzie Bone are much better rappers than Q-Tip and Phife.

Rappers like J. Cole are considered lyrical because they’re marketed that way, the same reason “mumble rappers” are considered non-lyrical when in reality there are probably hundreds of trap rappers with more meaningful lyrical content than J. Cole.

    Bone thugs love?

I’m all for it! They do not have a bad studio album. Even the New Waves project they did with just Krause and Bizzie was dope as f---. They’re not brought up enough and don’t get the credit they deserve
