Haha, oh sand you!

Don't get me wrong i appreciate Instagram, twitter and even facebook for what they are capable of. Just think it takes a really strong will to not get lost in it out of boredom. At least for me..
Also the thing i am particularly feverish with is privacy.. i don't like that people can judge me without me being able to judge back.. if that makes sense.. and them phones track a whole lot about you.. but that's another (and boring) discussion.

The thing is, socializing with random people is still as awkward with or without phones but you'll get more incentives to go out and talk to someone if you don't have things like a map app on your phone. And if you're with friends than yes, it would be rude to use your phone. But most of my friends could care less tbh.

Lol, sand. Get's f---ing everywhere!

Okay, I lied too. I have instagram but I barely post on it (my life is too boring =p) or check it. But the past 6 years of my social life have been in hostels. 2009, people actually spoke to one another. If there was to be a screen around, it would be a laptop that everybody was able to look at, 2 years later, you are in a bar/ common area filled with people, by themselves or in groups and nobody is willing trying to meet new people.

Let me spend a couple of grand travelling and sit on my phone keeping up to date on what's going on at home. NO. Get out there. Forget home for a few weeks, it will all be scarily exactly the same as when you left. Meet people, make new, connections, look around and appreciate everything.

Exactly.. 5 years ago when this wasn't as common a sight i had to defend my life against these zombies trying to 'convince' me to get the same phone. Actually i lied, i once did own an iPhone 3. But it died because of a load of sand in its energysocket.

Nowadays everyone feels like they a shell of who they once were.. confirming my judgement was fair.

Btw don't panic but i have never owned a smartphone.. because i always insisted on keeping it low-tech and non-whatsapp until recently..
