screw subject matter. it isnt necessary to make a song great. lil wayne who is arguably the goat doesnt have an overall subject matter in most of his songs but his wordplay, entendres, punchlines and such are flawless.

    Very
Not really. It was meant as a general statement with little specification. So it served its purpose to perfection. But you forreal act like you're 5 sometime so I'm sure you were just looking to start an argument. It's a wonder you have a rep of being childish on here..

acting like subject matter distinguishes good music from bad music fundamentally misunderstands what music is.

It's called an opinion f--- face

Literally music is entirely opinionated. You saying what fundamentally makes music good is the most ignorant thing I've ever heard

i'm not saying what specifically makes good music. i'm saying that a song's logline doesn't reflect its quality.

I agree with that. I never said it did... I said its opinionated. And in my opinion I like stuff with a lot of effort put into lyrics when it's executed properly

yeah but you've got this prescriptive idea of what it means to be "lyrical" or effortful or whatever. you're the one who's bringing the rigidity in here.

No.. My idea of lyrical is something that has concentrated effort in making a song that has structure and an idea/concept. Those are the songs I think are better. I like listening to them more.. I think it takes more skill. These are my own personal thoughts, no one has to agree. Just no point in someone calling me dumb or sarcastically mocking my opinion like a 5 year old would do.

it. is. not. an. opinion. to. say:

"Well executed lyrical songs are leaps and bounds better than trap songs "

what. if. the. trap. song. is. equally. well. executed. ?.
