Apr 6, 2022 I'm glad people are mentioning Dark, I never finished it but I was blown away by the first season when it dropped. Need to restart and watch the whole thing one of these days.
Apr 6, 2022 1. Sopranos 2. Breaking Bad 3. The Wire Honorable mention as the most exciting show ever: LOST
Apr 7, 2022 man..it’s been at least two years i could prolly go for a fresh rewatch of dark, would be a whole different experience knowing the inner workings of the show
Apr 7, 2022 The Wire is very US. I mean, it never became that popular, or praised in Europe or other places all over the world as Breaking Bad did. I feel like it wasn't really that relatable to whole world as Breaking Bad was. So I think Breaking Bad has the upperhand easily here. Lost was definitely huge but quality wise Breaking Bad still was better in overall specially considering the fact that Lost was bashed by many fans in its final season or something like that. I loved Dexter until they decided to ruin it with that bs sequel. Mad Men was definitely something. Game of Thrones was the most overrated one ever. And ofc, as for comedy, there many great shows, I'm still watching some of them and I watched some of them few times. But there is one that I almost watched like 7-8 times front to back. (I usually leave it after the 5-6th seasons tho since the last few times I started watching it) Yes, it is The Office US.
Apr 7, 2022 how is a show about a high school teacher who becomes a m--- kingpin relatable to literally anyone
Apr 7, 2022 Characters and feelings are very relatable. Cancer is, the fact he is a great guy but he is poor is, etc. I'm not gonna talk about thousand ways a person can relate to Walter white. It was very realistic and actually dreamlike in a way to keep it interesting. The Wire wasn't that interesting in that sense and there is no such thing as black guys selling drugs on projects and ghettos kinda thing in Europe so I'm sure whatever was so special about that show, us Europeans are missing it. Maybe it's something other than relatability. Not sure. I know the wire is not that highly regarded in Europe as breaking bad is. That's it.
Apr 7, 2022 Uhh, yeah it's exactly same as in New York right? All the racism and stuff... Not sure. I don't live in London and it's barely Europe, never been on the actual continent plus now it's not even in EU lol. Whatever, just ask anybody from Europe if they prefer breaking bad or the wire. I doubt many even watched the wire anyway. I just guessed the reason there. It might not be it. h--- you can even call the wire more relatable. Idc. It's not the point I'm making here anyway.
Apr 7, 2022 What? Walter White is a piece of s--- lol. Deep down he cared about his family, sure, but above all he cared about power and his gigantic ego. He ruined his life to sell m--- over having a family. Breaking Bad is a great show but I wouldn’t call it super realistic. Aside from the serial killer storyline in season 5, The Wire is one of the most realistic TV series ever. It was written and created by a former policeman and a journalist who spent years documenting the Baltimore drug trade by spending time with dealers, cops, addicts, politicians, everyone. Not even gonna touch the second part of your post except to say it tracks with all the weirdo eastern European opinions about rap music I see on this forum
Apr 8, 2022 Lol. Again, just ask anybody European if they prefer the Wire or Breaking Bad. Then keep talking. I'm not gonna waste time here with this non sense anymore. Maybe if you ever get to learn to listen and respect others opinions without ad hominems, I'll spend some of my precious time to talk to you. Walter White is not a piece of s---. Do you care anybody more than yourself ? That's not weird or bad. If you don't find Walter's story very very relatable than some black guys tryin' to sell dope on corners then I'm not sure what to think of who you are. A school teacher who worked and went by the rules his whole life, suddenly learning he is gonna die soon and realize where being the nice guy got him in this life, decides to do something about it, then, it escalates and he kinda becomes a slave to his work, power, money and ego. That's basically what the modern day "white collar" people actually are. So many parallels when you analyze it and it's really enjoyable as a show. That's what I mean by realistic. Ofc the path he took is a bit edgy, and things he went through are even more so. But as characters the whole family is very relastically build. It's very easy to see the parallels with any average white collar worker, middle income persons etc. I didn't really relate to anybody on The Wire throughout actually. That's it. It's not like I'm calling the show trash or anything, I'm not sure why are so offended by it. IMDB shows Breaking Bad is thought to be the better show since millions of people voted for it. Btw, just checked the number of people voted for both shows. Breaking Bad had 1.7 million voters and 9,5 overrall, The Wire only had a little above 300k voters with 9,3 overall. So, how am I in the wrong here ? It's obvious by the stats what most people think and there is some truth to what I've been saying.
