I don't regularly listen to gucci, i never heard any wordplays on the songs i listened but i wouldn't remember anyway. Never been a Gucci fan.

If mf doom has a huge fan base, what does that make guys like em, jay or guys like joyner, travis scott... Does he really have a bigger fan base than royce da 5 9 ?

Eminem sent him a song to feature on and Em is working on a new album.

    No, cuz it's always speculation.

The white guy blew it up the whole site and web with just one tweet and we still writing in that thread with over 200 pages of nothing.

Also 50 did confirmed the same thing like 2 weeks ago, nothing new actually.

I do miss those days. Loved the traffic this site garnered from 2011-14.

MF Doom is definitely not as popular as eminem or jay z or Travis Scott...if you look at Spotify monthly listeners, he has a little more than Royce (both have a little over a million). He’s been one of the biggest “underground” artists for a long time both in terms of fans and critical acclaim. His cult following is huge.

Out of curiosity I looked up Joyner on Spotify and he has 5 mil monthly listeners, dude is way more popular than I would have guessed.

The best way I’ve heard Gucci described was in an article by David Drake I believe (I’ll find it and link it when I get to my computer) that said something like “instead of making his ideas fit his syntax, he makes his syntax fit his ideas.” He’s not “lyrical” in the same way Eminem at his best was, but his writing is imaginative and hilarious—as well as having his fair share of introspective songs. The best comparison to a so-called “lyrical rapper” I can think of (even if they’re nothing alike) is Ghostface in terms of them both being known for vivid/hyper-specific imagery.

Gucci might not be your thing and that’s OK, but there’s room for more far more than one style of writing in rap just as there’s room for more than one style of writing novels, directing movies, painting, etc.—which is really all I’m getting at. There’s value in the way both of them write and, at their best, make for very compelling rap.

I got it what you saying. But calling him a "Legend" is inconceivable.

It's not, whether you like it or not he's one of the most influential rappers of 2000-2010s and is going to go down as such. I'm not saying he's a legend as in he's as big as eminem or jay z or anything, but he's still insanely popular (he has almost three times the monthly spotify listeners as, like, nas lol) and very respected in the industry.

What's your criteria for a legend?

I'm not saying anyone is a legend only if he's at Em's fame level.

Method Man, redman, pun, big l, rakim, dmx, kendrick etc... These are legends.

A legend is someone who the whole game respects and acknowledges he's made something impactful that changed something.

Gucci didn't do a single fck impactful, i can go ask to 1000 rap listeners and 970 of them don't know a song by him

If we still didn’t get nothing after revival I would be super hype for this new album 50 confirmed. But we got Kamikaze so I’m just going with the flow. Lolz

Did you read the article I posted? Gucci had a HUGE impact on hip-hop and is the godfather of trap music. It's fine if you don't like him or whatever, but to say he wasn't hugely influential is just flat out wrong.

Well to be fair.. I was super excited when I heard Eminem and 50 cent were putting a single together... then I heard Ed sheeran was on the track and I decided to stay excited anyways. Then we got “remember the name”

    Like for real?

After all these years.. when all we want is like some “patiently waiting” type s---. And you come out with 50 on Remember The Name.. uggh lol

But I give them the pass on that one because literally everything else Eminem has touched since Revival has been nothing but Fire! And you gotta think the other track with 50 on it isn’t going
To be a single type track.
