Revival is a mixtape. Mixtapes have no real coherent sound or theme. Theyre a collection of random songs. Revival has trap mixed with emo pop rap mixed with horrorcore... it has no sonic identity and is a bloated mess; a collection of random sounds which dont go together... THAT is a mixtape.
Kamikaze has a concept which is carried through the entire album, a sound; or similar types of sounds which glue every track together, similar production and vibes... music which matches the raps + raps and beats which match the imagery... it's a cohesive family of songs which sound correct together + the sum is greater than its parts. THAT is an album. A very good one.
I never realized just how f---ing psychotic MGK looks until his video for that whack a--- song. He looks like he should've been a m--- head extra from Breaking Bad.
This whole thing just f---ing brought the inner Stan in me. I just want to go back to middle school again. So happy. Probably will get fired from work tomorrow too. Whatever.
