Apr 3, 2017 This is wrong on every level Eminem is great at rapping but most say his recent songs are awful, from standpoints which I can see, although I don't agree with them A lot of factors go into making a good rap song/album, not just rapping ability
Apr 3, 2017 In terms of quality, i think hes referring to sound of the music vs. your preference and perspective of the sound of music in which would be your "taste". Oddisee's music has quality, but it may not fit your taste or interest of the kind of music you want to hear.
Apr 3, 2017 how music has no inherent value or quality except what people as individuals value about it and then project upon it
Apr 3, 2017 But theres ppl like t pain who can have a huge impact in a relatively short time and be considered great. And theres others like e40 or sum s--- who arent bad rappers but for the most part fail to keep up with the times. Their 20+ year career doesnt help their "legend" case If u mean rappers who consistently drop great music for years and years are more likely to be legends than yea, and also water is wet
Apr 3, 2017 i'm not sure i understand what point you're trying to make with this or how it relates to what i said
Apr 3, 2017 I'm not sure, but I would say the artist dictates the quality. The listener dictates the taste.
Apr 3, 2017 thats not really like it , i mean if someone sells 5 million copies in 3 months , is it bad ? people loved it , the artist called it great etc but there are are 1 million ppl hating on it
Apr 3, 2017 You said music has no inherent value or quality. I'm merely asking you why if the time it took to make it or the time to listen to it doesn't have value.
Apr 3, 2017 they dont but they mean people like your s--- and most of them think you make quality music
Apr 3, 2017 I think people confuse preference with quality. Just because someone doesn't like your music doesn't mean it doesn't have good quality.
Apr 3, 2017 I would agree with @Cyreides the quality of music is subjective, but only to the artist or creator of the music. Not the listener or critic.
Apr 3, 2017 everything takes time does that mean everything is inherently valuable or that that value is somehow a universal thing that everyone would then perceive the same? how is this value measured? who decides it? does taking longer to make something mean it's value increases? what makes this value not just a personal thing? like, i'm not sure what you're trying to imply here other than saying that because someone took the time to make it it's automatically valuable, or should be, and that value somehow automatically translates to "quality" or something like that
Apr 3, 2017 yeah e40 is a great example,he's always been around but his music isn't impressive I would say. But like I said in op, you have to make great albums and projects for YEARS. because you have these rappers who put out some classic or two,not gonna front, but their career was long for like 6-8 years
