I'd have to go David Lynch with shoutouts to Scorsese and PTA.

Smh @ no mention of Michael Bay yet.

Lol, but seriously, a guy who has caught my attention but hasn't really popped out yet is Rian Johnson. "Brick" was the first film of his that I'd seen, and it's very unique as a kinda Noir (sp?) Crime Drama, which I have never really been a huge fan of that genre. It plays on that element throughout the whole movie as the protagonist (played by Joseph Gordon Levitt) investigates the mysterious death of his ex-girlfriend, and eventually discovers a tight-knit group of High Schoolers who work under "The Pin", a wannabe drug lord (who wears a cape LOL) who tries to go big time after buying ten brick of heroine when one gets stolen and sets the events of the film into motion...

He also directed "Looper", and a few episodes of Breaking Bad, but not just any episodes....

    And "Fly" lol.
