Feb 19, 2017 In 2011 Wayne dropped 6"7 and C4 did nearly a mill first week. He was still right around the peak of his popularity. Also 2011, Ye dropped WTT with NIP, which was a cultural phenomenon. Then in 2012 it was Mercy, Clique, and the rest of Cruel Summer hits that were every where. Don't get me wrong, Drake was top 3 most popular, and my memory is probably wrong on nicki lol, but I don't think Drake reached the top spot until STFB, HOWGH, 5AM, etc. Edit: and the Drake tracks on C4 are some of the worst on it. She Will is ard. And I'm trying to compare what I view 2011-2012 Drake as popularity wise to a present Rapper, but Drake has such a strangle hold on the game that I can't. Like who's going to be the next big thing in the mainstream?
Feb 21, 2017 Kanye is miles ahead of Drake. Jay - Z once said "Kanye is like that Indian that will go to the top of the hill to check for danger or new beginnings while everybody including himself else sits back and watches because they are to afraid to peek or look over the hill". Kanye has taken drastic changes with his women, fashion style, lifestyle and most importantly his music, which opened the doors for others. Drake on the other hand is not taking the chance unless he has proof it is successful. Drake is not walking through any doors unless somebody else has and yes he does master it once he gets in the door. So Drake needs a Kanye in the world to go check the top of the hill to make sure everything is good and once Drake gets okay to go over the hill drake then goes and builds palaces and mansions. See what i did there. I used Indians as an example because that's exactly what was done to Indians in America.
