He was one of the biggest innovators in world football during the early years at Arsenal;
- Some of the diets he learned over in Japan that he brought over to England are almost now standard practices in every team
- His massive scouting network was unheard of in those days, the fact that he brought in some of the now most recognizable names in Arsenal's history for practically a bag of peanuts is incredible.
- He practically predicted the rise of the smaller, skillful players (particular from Spain Re: Fabregas)
I understand the toll and hardships of when he had a limited budget when the Emirates was coming together and keeping those star players but what now? His failure to adapt to more modern tactics (Arsenal are the worst team in football at pressing when depossessed) and clearly he just doesn't motivate the teams like he used to (the body language and frustration of some of the players is the most telling). There is no way the club hasn't been able to battle against Europe's elite nor have they been able to win in a league that's right now in a rebuilding stage talent-wise.Alpha, Kold and SpursandGermany100 like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -
